1.0 Overview

This document describes how to install the IBM^® Rational^® Performance Tester IFeature001 by using the IBM Rational Product Updater. You should install this feature directly from the IBM update server. However, you can also download a ZIP file that contains this feature for local installations. The following sections describe how to install this feature.

2.0 Installation prerequisites

Before you can install this feature, you must install IBM Rational Performance Tester 6.1 with Interim Fix 001 and Interim Fix 000a. See http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/rpt/61/html/ifix001/install.html and http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/rpt/61/html/ifix000a/install.html for instructions on installing the ifixes.

This feature only works with Windows^® operating systems.

Also, if you disabled any product features through the Update Manager by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration, or by modifying feature.xml files, you must re-enable them before you install this feature.

3.0 Installing the feature

Install the feature with the same user account that installed Rational Performance Tester.

Restrictions:

• Rational Performance Tester cannot be open when you install this feature.
• You must use an account with Administrator privileges.

To install the feature, complete the following steps:

1. Click Start > Programs > IBM Rational > Rational Product Updater to start the Rational Product Updater.



2. Click Find Optional Features.


If the Rational Product Updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it before you can continue. Click OK. The Rational Product Updater installs the update and retrieves a list of available updates.


3. By default, all available features are selected. Ensure that you select Interim Feature 001. If you have not installed Interim Fix 001 and Interim Fix 000a, a popup opens instructing you to do so before proceeding. To read the IFeature release notes prior to installing, click Interim Feature 001. The notes appear in the Detailed Information window.



4. Click Install Features.
5. To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click OK.


Depending on the speed of your computer processor, the amount of RAM, and the speed of your Internet connection, the feature might take an extended period of time to download and install.

After the installation is complete, the Rational Product Updater lists the installed features on the Installed Products page.


6. Close the Rational Product Updater.

4.0 Downloading the feature for local installations

You should install the feature directly from the IBM update server; however, it is also available for download. You might want to download the feature in the following situations:

• You have a slow or unstable Internet connection and want to use a download manager that can resume the download.
• You have difficulty accessing the live IBM update servers from behind a firewall.
• You prefer to download the feature and install it later.

To download and install the feature for Rational Performance Tester, complete the following steps:

1. Download the feature from ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/rationalsdp/rpt/61/zips/rpt61_siebel_ifeature001.zip.
2. Extract the feature to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.
3. For installation instructions, navigate to C:\temp\rpt\ and open install_local_siebel_ifeature001.html.

5.0 Creating a local mirror of the update server

You might want to create a local mirror of the Rational Performance Tester update server in the following situations:

• You administer a set of product installations that do not have direct access to the Internet.
• You administer a set of product installations that would benefit from a local mirror of the update server.

6.0 Uninstalling the feature

Uninstall the feature with the same user account that installed Rational Performance Tester.

Restrictions:

• Rational Performance Tester cannot be open when you uninstall this feature.
• You must use an account with Administrator privileges.

To uninstall the feature, complete the following steps:

1. Start the Rational Product Updater:
   • Click Start > Programs > IBM Rational > Rational Product Updater.



2. Click the Rollbacks tab.


The Rollbacks page shows an inventory of updates and optional features that are currently installed for Rational Performance Tester.


3. Select Interim Feature 001.


Dependencies between updates are automatically enforced. If you select to roll back an update that is required by other installed updates, the updates that depend on the update are also selected to be rolled back.


4. Click Roll Back Updates.
5. Close the Rational Product Updater.
