Upgrading to an external Crystal Reports Designer
A Crystal reports external designer is a stand-alone application that is available as an upgrade. Within Rational Application Developer, you can set your .rpt file association to point to the external designer, so that when you choose to create a new report, Rational Application Developer launches the external designer rather than the embedded designer. Crystal Reports report (.rpt) files created with an external designer can be saved directly to the enterprise repository from within this designer.
To set your .rpt file association to point to the external designer
- On the Window menu click Preferences.
- Click General > Editors > File Associations.
- Select *.rpt in the File types list.
- Select Crystal Reports External Designer from the Associated editors list and click Default.
