How do I initialize the default values of Java beans?

Your applications will use many Java beans:

• Managed beans, such as EnterpriseItem, EnterpriseItems, or Identity.
• Property beans that provide components access to classes such as AuthenticationProps or SubmitButtonProps.
• Other beans written yourself to manage additional data. These beans must be configured to initialize default values of properties that control the behavior of components bound to these beans.

To configure a bean and initialize properties

1. In the Page Data view, right-click a bean and click Configure.
2. Click Initialize Properties to configure initial default values for the properties of the bean.
3. In the Initialize JavaBean Properties dialog box, click Add to add a new property to the list.
4. Click in the Name field, and select a property from the list.
5. Enter a value in the Value field for the property.

You can type a string, number, or simple expression for the value. In addition, the value can be set to the property value of another bean: click on the button in the Value field and select a bean from the Select Page Data Object dialog box.

6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until you have initialized default values for all desired properties.
7. Click OK, and then click Finish.

In addition, the first time you configure a bean, you may be prompted to set the type for certain properties before continuing on to the configuration window. For example, when first configuring the EnterpriseItems bean, you may be prompted to enter types for the infoobjects and pathToFolder properties. In this case, the infoobjects property is of type IInfoObjects and the pathToFolder property is of type java.util.List.
