Embedded Reporting

The embedded reporting scenario uses the Java Reporting Component (JRC) and Crystal Reports Viewers Java SDK to let users view and export reports in a web browser. They provide the functionality required to create and customize a report viewer object, process the report, and then render the report in DHTML.

Another advantage to this embedded reporting scenario is that the JRC keeps report processing completely internal to the Java application server. This allows you to process Crystal Reports report (.rpt) files within the application itself, without having to rely on external report servers.

Note:    Because the JRC is a logical set of JAR files, this scenario is labeled embedded reporting because using the JRC requires the report engine JAR files to be embedded within your java application.
