Data Source Explorer view (
Crystal Reports

The Data Source Explorer view contains information on connecting to various data sources, such as SQL Server, Oracle, and Derby.
To connect to a data source
From the
Data Source Explorer
view, right-click
Databases
and click
New
.
The
"New Connection Profile"
dialog box appears.
Select a database from the
"Connection Profile Types"
list.
In the
"Select a driver from the drop-down"
section, click the browse [...] button.
The
"Driver Definitions"
dialog box appears.
Search for the version of Derby that you have installed and click
Add
.
The
"New Driver Definition"
dialog box appears.
Select the database driver and click
OK
.
The
"Edit Driver Definition"
dialog box appears.
Remove the default file.
Click the
Add Jar/Zip
button.
Browse to the \lib\ folder where you installed the database JAR files and select the appropriate JAR file.
In the
"Properties"
, modify the following properties:
"Connection URL"
"Database Name"
"Password"
= test
A Password may not be required for the connection but in order to add it to the report, a password must be supplied.
"User ID"
= test
Click
OK
.
In the
"Driver Definitions"
dialog box, select the appropriate driver and click
OK
.
Verify that the database location is accurate.
Click
test connection
to verify the connection.
Click
Finish
.
In the
"Databases"
list, right-click the connection that you created and select
Connect
.
The connection will expand and show you the database node. Click to expand the following nodes:
a.
your database
b.
Schemas
c.
APP
d.
Tables
To add tables to the report, you can drag the tables to the
"Field Explorer"
view or to the report.
