Crystal Reports for Rational Application Developer Designer Guide
To create a parameter field
In the
"Field
Explorer" view, right-click
Parameters, and then click
New.
Enter a name for the
parameter, and then click
Enter.
In the
"Properties" view, you can
change the name and type of the parameter along with other
"properties".
Select the appropriate
Type from the list.
You can choose types such as String,
Number, or Date, among others.
In the
"Properties" view, go to
Prompt
Text and enter the desired prompting text.
For example, you might enter text
such as "Select a Country."
This is the text that you see in the
prompting dialog box when you go to the Preview tab, or when you refresh the
data on the Preview tab.
In the Value area, click
List of
Values, and then click the button at the end of the field.
The Pick List dialog box appears.
Enter the values that you
want to see when you go to the
Preview tab.
For example, you might add a list of
countries for a String type, or a list of values for a Number type.
When you are finished
entering values, click
OK.
You return to the
"Properties" view.
Drag and drop the
parameter into your report.
Note: If you don't want
to see the parameter field you dropped in your report, place it in a section
you can suppress, such as a report header or footer.
