For information about installing the IBM Rational Functional Tester 7.0.0.1 fix pack, see the installation instructions on the Web at http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/v7/rft/7001/docs/install_instruction/install.html
Currently, Functional Tester does not support testing multi-tab documents in a single IE7 browser window. Functional Tester considers only the document in the first tab of the IE7 browser for testing.
Functional Tester 7.0 and 7.0.0.1 tours do not run on foreign language machines.
Do not zoom in or out before recording and playing back scripts in IE7.
Functional Tester 7.0 does not support integration with Rational ClearQuest Test Manager 7.0.
Use Rational ClearQuest Test Manager 7.0.0.1 with Functional Tester 7.0.
Recording and playing back Functional Tester scripts on Internet Explorer 7.0 is slower compared to Internet Explorer 6.0.
Contrary to the Installation Manager online help and the 7.0.0.1 product Installation Guide documents, you cannot use the Uninstall Packages wizard rollback feature; the rollback feature is not supported in Installation Manager Version 1.0.0.2.
The Rolling back updates online help topic indicates that you can use the Uninstall Packages wizard to revert to a previously installed version of a package. For example, if you install Rational Functional Tester Version 7.0 and then update to version 7.0.0.1, the help topic states that you can use the rollback feature to revert to 7.0; this is not possible. Also, the Silent Install Commands online help topic indicates that you can use a rollback command during silent install; this command is not supported.
Workaround: In order to revert to an earlier version of a package, you must uninstall the entire package. In the example, a single uninstallation procedure removes the version 7.0 package and the upgraded 7.0.0.1 package. After uninstalling, you would need to reinstall the 7.0 package.
You cannot play back scripts recorded using Functional Tester 6.1.1.1 on Functional Tester 7.0.
Workaround: Upgrade to 7.0.0.1 to play back scripts recorded using Functional Tester 6.1.1.1.
You cannot play back scripts recorded using Functional Tester 7.0 on Functional Tester 7.0.0.1.
Workaround: Record the scripts again on Functional Tester 7.0.0.1.
Functional Tester 7.0 uses RAC 7.0.1 and hence you cannot install it on a system which has Performance Tester 7.0 (uses RAC 7.0.1.1) already installed.
While installing Functional Tester 7.0, perform one of the following:
- If you can access the Functional Tester update site, use the Check for Updates option in the Installation Manager to select and install Functional Tester 7.0.0.1.
- Download the update for Functional Tester 7.0.0.1 into your system. Add the corresponding repository to the list of repositories in the Installation Manager and install Functional Tester 7.0.0.1.
If you upgrade ClearQuest Test Manager (CQTM) v7.0 to CQTM v7.0.0.1 using the plugins from the default update site and try to install into Functional Tester v7.x, it fails with a Hyades 3.3 error. This happens because the default update site does not contain the Functional Tester compatible CQTM v7.0.0.1 plugins.
Workaround: Upgrade to CQTM 7.0.0.1 using the plugins from http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/clearquest/70/update/ide and then try to install into Functional Tester v7.x.
While recording on Internet Explorer 7.0, errors are thrown intermittently pausing the record process.
Workaround: Perform any of the following:
- Click Resume in the displayed error message box to continue with the record process
- Increase the low level recorder timeout value in the RecorderTimeout registry key. The default value is 10 seconds.
Sometimes browser enablement does not automatically add the associated JRE to the set of known JREs and enable it. This causes record and playback on HTML to fail.
Workaround: Perform the following steps:
- Go to the Control Panel from the Start menu and open the Java Control Panel.
- Check the location of the JRE used by the browser in the Java Applet Runtime Settings.
- Open the Functional Tester Enabler.
- Add the JRE used by the browser and enable it.
- Restart the HTML test application.
If the associated JRE is not found in the system, install a new JRE, associate it and enable the browser environment.
For more information on browser enablement see Enabling the Java plug-in of a browser in the Functional Tester help.
Functional Tester .Net projects are not associated with the eclipse workspace. Since the agent machine expects Functional Tester resources to be in the eclipse workspace, remote execution of VB.Net scripts is not possible.
Workaround: From the Functional Tester Eclipse IDE, connect to the Functional Tester .Net projects for enabling the remote execution.
Note: Ensure that the Functional Tester .Net and Java project names are not the same.
When multiple popup windows running on different threads are involved, closing a popup window will open another popup window. During playback, any action after the close action may result in browser crash.
Workaround: Insert sleep() function after the close action in the script.
While adding scripts using the recorder to a project that is not checked out from ClearCase, Visual Studio.Net crashes when you stop the recorder.
Workaround: Check-out the project from ClearCase before you add new scripts.
