Configuring the WebSphere Application Server

This topic describes how to set up the Jazz™ Team Server to work with the WebSphere® Application Server on z/OS®.

Before you begin

Before you perform this task, make sure you have done the following:

You have installed and are running the WebSphere Application Server.
You have created the DB2® database and updated the teamserver.properties file with your database settings.
You have established RACF® security settings. For more information on RACF security, see Setting up security with RACF.
Important: Although you can log in to WebSphere and many other LDAP directories with credentials that are not case-sensitive, the Jazz Team Server stores user records with IDs in the exact case in which you import them. When you log in to the Jazz Team Server, the user record is retrieved from the list of users, and the case must match exactly.
You have enabled application security, but you have turned off the Java™ 2 Security option. If you enable this option for the WebSphere Application Server, the Jazz Team Server .war file will not start.
Make sure that you select the Use available authentication data when an unprotected URI is accessed WebSphere Application Server security setting.
Note: If you are using the WebSphere Application Server Integrated Solutions Console, you can also select Security > Secure administration, applications, and infrastructure > Web Security - General Settings to enable this setting.

About this task

This configuration assumes that you are installing the Jazz Team Server on the same machine as the WebSphere Application Server. Also, this topic does not list the steps for configuring the WebSphere authentication on SSL. Note: You must register as a Jazz.net user before you can visit the WebSphere Information Center. Go to http://jazz.net.

Perform the following steps to deploy the Jazz Team Server for System z® on the WebSphere Application Server. Each step is detailed below in its own task.

Procedure

Define application server JVM custom properties.
Deploy the jazz.war file and restart the application server.

About this task

Note:

There might be minor differences in the WebSphere administrative console depending on your version of the WebSphere Application Server.
Substitute @confPath@ with your Jazz Team Server configuration directory as determined when you ran the BLZCPDIR sample job.

Procedure

Select Servers > Application Servers.
Select server1.
Select Java and Process Management > Process Definition > Servant.
Select Java Virtual Machine.
Set the value for the Initial Heap Size to at least 100.
Set the value for Maximum Heap Size to at least 1000.
Click Apply.
Click Logging and Tracing.
Click Change Log Detail Levels. The Jazz Team Server uses the BIRT reporting engine. To prevent BIRT informational entries from being written to the WebSphere log file, set the logging level to Severe for the org.eclipse.birt.* packages.
Click Apply.
SelectCustom Properties.
Add the following properties by clicking New. Click OK after you add each one.

JAZZ_HOME ; value: file:///etc

Note: Replace @db2PathPrefix@ with the path to the DB2 V9 JDBC license and JDBC jar files on your system. These files are named db2jcc_license_cisuz.jar and db2jcc.jar and are located by default at /usr/lpp/db2910_jdbc/classes.
Select Save directly to the master configuration.

Deploying the jazz.war file and restarting the WebSphere Application Server

Procedure

From the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, select Applications > Install New Application.
Under Path to new Application, select Remote file system.
Under Full path, browse to @pathPrefix@/usr/lpp/jazz/v2.0/server/tomcat/webapps/jazz.war, where @pathPrefix@ is any prefix you specified when you installed the SMP/E.
Set the context root to /jazz.
Click Next, then continue with the remaining Install New Application steps as prompted by that editor.
Click Finish.
Select Save directly to the master configuration.
Restart the application server.
Check the servant logs for errors.
