1.0 Overview

This document describes how to install a downloaded version of Interim Fix 002 for IBM® Rational® Systems Developer, Version 6.0.1.1. This document also links to instructions that describe how to create a local mirror of your product update server.

2.0 Installation prerequisites

To download, extract, and install the interim fix from a ZIP file, you will require 32 MB of disk space.

Before you can install this interim fix, you must install:

  1. Rational Systems Developer Fix Pack 6.0.1.1

  1. Interim Fix 001 for Rational Systems Developer Fix Pack 6.0.1.1

Installation instructions for Rational Systems Developer 6.0.1.1 iFix 001 are available at www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/rsd/60/install_instruction/6011_interim_fix001/install.html.

If you are installing from the IBM update server or from your local update site with both Interim Fix 001 and 002 installation files on it, IBM RSD Product Updater will automatically select and install Interim Fix 001 along with Interim Fix 002.

  1. Latest versions of interim features. If you have interim features installed, you must install the latest versions. Failure to do so will result in errors that will block the update from being installed. If you want to install from a local update site, ensure to download the latest versions to your site.

To determine the versions of the installed product and interim features:

  1. Start IBM RSD Product Updater:
  2. Click the Installed Products tab.

If you disabled any product features by modifying the feature.xml files or through the Update Manager by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration, you must enable them before you install this interim fix.

3.0 Installing the interim fix

Install the interim fix with the same user account that installed the product.

Restrictions:

To install the interim fix, complete the following steps:

  1. Start IBM RSD Product Updater:

  2. Note: On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, if you use a desktop environment other than the default, the product shortcuts will not appear in the default locations.

  3. Click Preferences > Update Sites.
  4. Navigate to temp_dir\rsd\policy_6011_interim_fix002.xml, where temp_dir is the location of the extracted interim fix.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Find Updates.


  7. If your computer does not have Internet access, or cannot connect to the live IBM update server, a warning appears in IBM RSD Product Updater that states that other update sites are not available. You can ignore this warning if you installed IBM RSD Product Updater 6.0.1.

    If your computer has Internet access and can connect to the live IBM update server, and if IBM RSD Product Updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it before you can continue. Click OK. IBM RSD Product Updater installs the update, restarts, and retrieves a list of available updates.

  8. Select Interim Fix 002 for Rational Systems Developer 6.0.1.1.
  9. Click Install Updates.
  10. In the License Agreement window, read the license agreement and, if you accept the terms and conditions, click I accept the terms in the license agreement; then click OK.

    After the installation is complete, IBM RSD Product Updater lists the installed updates on the Installed Products page.

  11. Close IBM RSD Product Updater.

4.0 Installing product updates from a command line

You can install product updates, such as interim fixes, fix packs, and refresh packs, from a command line so that you do not have to monitor or input information during the installation.

5.0 Creating a local mirror of the update server

You might want to create a local mirror of the update server in the following situations:

6.0 Uninstalling the interim fix

Uninstall the interim fix with the same user account that installed the product.

Restrictions:

To uninstall the interim fix, complete the following steps:

  1. Start IBM RSD Product Updater:

  2. Note: On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, if you use a desktop environment other than the default, the product shortcuts will not appear in the default locations.

  3. Click the Rollbacks tab. An inventory of installed product updates and features is displayed on the Rollbacks page.
  4. Select Interim Fix 002 for Rational Systems Developer 6.0.1.1.


  5. Dependencies between updates are enforced automatically. If you select to roll back an update on which other installed updates depend, the dependent updates are also selected to roll back.

  6. Click Roll Back Updates.
  7. Close IBM RSD Product Updater.

7.0 Customer support

When you contact customer support, the support representative will require the versions of the installed products or interim features on your system.

To determine the versions, complete the following steps:
