1.0 About this fix

Rational Functional Tester 6.1.1.1 iFix001 provides support for testing HTML applications on Internet Explorer 7.0. This fix pack also provides improved playback performance on Linux platform and includes defect fixes to Functional Tester 6.1.1.1. Some of the defect fixes are outlined in this document.

2.0 Prerequisites

You must install Functional Tester 6.1.1.1 before installing this interim fix.

3.0 Known limitations, problems, and workarounds

3.1 Functional Tester does not support multi-tab documents in IE7

Currently, Functional Tester does not support testing multi-tab documents in a single IE7 browser window. Functional Tester considers only the document in the first tab of the IE7 browser for testing.

3.2 In Internet Explorer 7.0 (IE7), scripts must be recorded and played back at 100% zoom

Do not zoom in or out before recording and playing back scripts in IE7.

3.3 Record and play back of Functional Tester scripts on IE 7 is slow

Recording and playing back Functional Tester scripts on Internet Explorer 7.0 is slower compared to Internet Explorer 6.0.

3.4 Recording on IE 7 pauses due to intermittent errors

While recording on Internet Explorer 7.0, errors are thrown intermittently pausing the record process.

Workaround: Perform any of the following:

3.5 Record and playback on browser fails

Sometimes browser enablement does not automatically add the associated JRE to the set of known JREs and enable it. This causes record and playback on HTML to fail.

Workaround: Perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the Control Panel from the Start menu and open the Java Control Panel.
  2. Check the location of the JRE used by the browser in the Java Applet Runtime Settings.
  3. Open the Functional Tester Enabler.
  4. Add the JRE used by the browser and enable it.
  5. Restart the HTML test application.

If the associated JRE is not found in the system, install a new JRE, associate it and enable the browser environment.

For more information on browser enablement see Enabling the Java plug-in of a browser in the Functional Tester help.

3.6 IE 7 crashes during playback

When multiple popup windows running on different threads are involved, closing a popup window will open another popup window. During playback, any action after the close action may result in browser crash.

Workaround: Insert sleep() function after the close action in the script.

4.0 Product fix history

An overview of some of the problems/defects that are fixed in this pack are listed below:

4.1 Verification Point Comparator window closes while scrolling vertically

While dragging the vertical scroll bar in the Verification Point Comparator window, the window used to flicker and close without any warning.

4.2 AUT window resizes from maximized to a smaller state during script playback

The application-under-test window was getting resized from the maximized to a smaller size while playing back the script containing menu item clicks.

4.3 Input field data not shown in the screen while playing back scripts that uses datapool

The input data was not shown in the screen while playing back the script since the SetText() method was not working properly.

4.4 While testing HTML applications, ready state of the 2nd level test objects are ignored resulting in playback failure.

The NO_FLAGS value set as the ready state for the 2nd level test objects were not considered while playing back the HTML applications. This was resulting in playback failure.

4.5 While testing HTML applications, playback fails if the controls on DIV container is not visible within the application window dimensions

The playback used to fail since the auto-scroll on the DIV container was not working.

4.6 Sometimes Internet Explorer crashes while recording against the edit boxes in a non-HTML document

4.7 Unable to record actions performed on the Print dialog box that are invoked from a HTML dialog

4.8 Incorrect playback if the scripts contain actions on SWT controls like combo box, tree controls, check box and tables on Linux

4.9 Unable to change the browser window size on Linux

The maximize() method for changing the browser window size was ignored while playing back these scripts on Linux.

4.10 The Functional Tester settings in the Preferences window were ignored on Linux

4.11 Play back failure due to incorrect handling of inputKeys function on Linux
