You can draw or add different types of actions to your
activity diagram. Actions are the building blocks of activities. You
can call actions that invoke other activities and that can be decomposed
into other actions.
About this task
Actions represent function invocations with
a single exit flow when the function completes. The default settings
are used when you add an Action and type a name on the
diagram. That name becomes the text of the action, not the name of
the action.
Procedure
- Click the Action tool
and create actions in
the diagram. Name each new action carefully to describe its function. The following are the basic action types that you can use:- Action that represents the atomic level
of activity behavior.
- Call behavior action that invokes a behavior
when it runs. This action has a set of pins that match the type and
number of the parameters of the invoked behavior.
- Message Actions that it is a stereotype
you can apply to actions in the activity diagram.
- To apply a MessageAction stereotype,
right-click on the action, select Features....
Click on the select a stereotype button
, and the Select Stereotype
window opens. On this window, from the Profiles displayed,
select MessageAction and click .
- To end a particular flow, use the Activity Final or
the Flow Final tools from the Diagram Tools to
draw the flows.
