Packages contained in their own directories

In IBM® Rational® ClearCase®, when you rename a package in its own directory, both the file name and the directory name are changed. Note that the ConfigurationManagement::ClearCase::RenameDirectory property controls the renaming directories.

For other configuration management tools, when you rename a package located in a separate directory, IBM Rational Rhapsody® does not make any changes to the configuration management system. Instead, the product displays an error message stating that the operation could not be executed in the configuration management system.

If you change the model only, Rational Rhapsody renames the package in the model but does not change the file or directory name in either the file system or configuration management system. If you change the model and the file system, the product changes the names of the model element, file, and directory. For more information, see Failure to update the configuration management system.
