Upgrading Rational Rhapsody

If you have an older version of the product, you can upgrade to a newer version in most situations. There are upgrade restrictions for the product depending on your upgrade situation.

About this task

These restrictions apply to the following upgrade situations:

Procedure

  1. Remove the older version of Rational Rhapsody. For Windows, see the topic on removing the product from a Windows system before upgrading Rational Rhapsody. For Linux, see the topic on deleting the product from a Linux system before upgrading Rational Rhapsody.
  2. Restart your system before installing the newer version of the product.
  3. Run the installation for the new version; see the topics in the section on installing Rational Rhapsody.
  4. If you are using the Rational Rhapsody plug-in for Eclipse, you have to upgrade the plug-in as well; see the topic on upgrading the Rational Rhapsody plug-in for Eclipse.
  5. Review the topic in the Migrating section of the Rational Rhapsody help for the version of Rational Rhapsody you are upgrading to and make sure that you understand any model / framework changes the product might make or require before opening the new version of the product.
  6. If you have your own operating system adapter, rebuild your framework libraries in the new version of the product.
  7. Regenerate and rebuild the code for any application that was created with the older version of the product.
