Creating parametric diagrams for a constraint block

You can use constraint properties to show how a constraint block is used, and the parametric diagram illustrates the usage. To define a parametric diagram, first create a constraint property and then "type" it with the constraint block.

Procedure

  1. From the appropriate package in the browser, right-click the package and select Add New > Diagrams > Parametric.
  2. Select the ConstraintProperty button ConstraintProperty button.
  3. Drag the Constraint Property onto the diagram.
  4. Open the Features window, and set its Type to the correct Constraint Property.
  5. Rename the Property to its usage, and repeat for other relevant blocks for the calculation. Each block has a set of Constraint Parameters which show relationships between the blocks when they are joined with Binding Connectors.

    Next, you need to add new pieces of data needed in the parametric diagram to bind the parametrics.

  6. Double-click on a part of the parametric diagram, select Features, and the Attributes tab.
  7. Click the <<New>> item, and add mathematical attributes with the correct name and appropriate type. Click OK.
  8. Drag the data attributes from the browser onto the parametric diagram and connect it to the appropriate constraint parameter with a value binding.
  9. To show how the data is bound to each constraint, select the ConstraintParameter buttonConstraintParameter button, and draw this connection point on a constraint.
  10. Select the BindingConnnector buttonBindingConnnector button, and draw the connection between the data source and the constraint to bind a value to its constraint.
