Drawing parts in internal block diagrams

You can use the internal block diagram to specify how the internal parts of a block are connected together in a specific context. The ports, standard ports and SysML flowPorts, can be added to the parts, and the connections between the parts and ports can be drawn using connectors.

Procedure

  1. Right-click a block, and select Add New > Diagrams > Internal Block Diagram. The product automatically adds the owning block to the diagram.
  2. Enter the diagram name, and click OK.
  3. Click the Part buttonPart button, add the part to the owning block on the diagram, and name it accordingly. This addition creates an implicit part.
  4. Open the Features window for the part and change the Type of the part from a implicit to a explicit value, as SysML requires. Confirm this change when the warning message is displayed.
  5. Change the Multiplicity of the part, if it is required.
  6. Click OK twice to save your changes and close the Features window.
  7. You can add more parts, and use connectors to link the parts directly to other parts, or through ports to compatible ports on other parts, or the owning block.
  8. To link standard ports, select the Connector button Connector button, click the standard port of the sending part, and then click the standard port of the receiving part.
  9. To group parts or blocks together to form a single element of the model, select the elements that you want to group, and click the Package button Package button. Drop the package onto the internal block diagram.
