Configuring Rational Rhapsody Design Managerserver locations

After you use the import engine to load model workspaces onto the server, you can configure to synchronize comments made between models in with models that have been imported onto the model server. TheRational® Rhapsody® Design Manager Server Extension provides similar Web functionality allowing you to comment, sketch, and link within Rational Rhapsody.

Configuring Rational Rhapsody server locations

After you install the Rational Rhapsody Design Manager Server Extension, you must update Rational Rhapsody with the location of your model server. Otherwise, you will not be able to synchronize comments made between models in Rational Rhapsody and models that have been imported onto the model server. Further, if you want to use the CLM linking capabilities, you can create connections to the Rational Requirements Composer or Rational Team Concert™ servers. You can also create link between other model servers or the server itself (if you add the server as a friend to itself).

About this task

To update the Rational Rhapsody server connection page with server locations:

Procedure

  1. In Rational Rhapsody, open the Design Explorer view. By default, this view is located next to the Project Explorer view. You can also access this view by clicking Window > Show View > Other. Then click Modeling > Design Explorer and click OK.
  2. In the Design Explorer view, click the Connect to Server Projects icon.
  3. In the Connect to Server Projects wizard, click Create a new Design Repository connection and click Next. In the table, you can also select existing model repository Connections and modify the projects in the following wizard page.
  4. In the Address field, enter the address of the server. The address of the server resides on port 9443, followed by a forward slash, and then dm (for example, https://hostname:9443/dm).
  5. In the Name field, enter a name for the server. By default the name is automatically derived from the server.
  6. In the Username and password fields, enter the credentials to access the server.
  7. Click Finish.

Results

After you have defined your server information and you click Finish, your models are automatically linked from your workspace to corresponding models on your server. In the Project Explorer view, look for a small, chain icon in the top, left corner of the model icon. This icon indicates that there is a link or connection established. Using the Design Explorer view, you can add or remove links to various models in your workspace.
Note: A model can only be linked to one project at a time.
