Installing Rational Rhapsody Developer on a Linux system

Use this procedure to install IBM® Rational® Rhapsody® Developer for C, C++, and Java on a Linux system.

Before you begin

Before installing the product, be sure to review the related topics about planning the installation and about pre-installation tasks (such as installing your compiler and add-on software before installing Rational Rhapsody).

You must have administrator privileges to be able to install the product successfully.

Procedure

  1. Insert the distribution CD or use the downloaded file.
  2. Open a new terminal window and change to the cdrom directory.
  3. Run the installation script.
    > ./INSTALL
    Note: Be sure to type the initial "./" before typing INSTALL.

    The system displays a welcome message.

  4. The license agreement is displayed. Accept the license agreement by pressing 1.
  5. Enter the path of the directory in which you want to run the product.
    Note: When entering the path, do not use a trailing slash. For example, use the following format: /usr1/tools/rhapsody
  6. Answer the questions about your compiler preferences.
  7. If using Java, enter the path for the Java Development Kit.
  8. Select the add-on products that you intend to use with Rational Rhapsody.

Results

The installation copies the software from the source to the specified directory and indicates when the installation has finished.
