Lesson 10: Handing off the project to software engineers

The last lesson describes some basic hand-off techniques for software engineers and supplies some bonus exercises.
To deliver specification information to the software engineers, the systems engineers hand off the results of the requirement analysis in a focused version of the model and printed documentation using the Rational® Rhapsody® documentation generation capabilities.

To prepare the hand-off to the software engineers:

  1. Copy your project.
  2. In the copy of your project, remove the requirements section from the model because the analysis of the requirements is complete. The software engineers do not need that information.
  3. Identify the software use cases and remove any hardware use cases from the model.
  4. Identify the analysis results for the software and remove hardware analysis results.
  5. Print any reports showing important diagrams and summaries.
  6. Deliver the software focused version of the project and reports to the software engineers.
You have completed the tutorial. If you want to see a completed version of the tutorial model, download the compressed project file from the https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/Rhapsody/Tutorials%2C+samples+and+demos wiki in the "Completed version of Spa and pool temperature control architecture model."

Optional changes to the model

If you want to continue to work on this project, add these elements to the model:
  • More use cases and other diagrams to address the new requirements
  • More parts to the model
  • A controller algorithm
  • An allocation table
