Object model diagrams specify the structure
and static relationships of the classes in the system.
IBM® Rational® Rhapsody® object
model diagrams are both class diagrams and object diagrams, as specified
in the UML. They show the classes, objects, interfaces, and attributes
in the system and the static relationships that exist between them.
Note that an object model diagram is specified for the object structure,
while a class diagram is specified for the class structure.
More
than simply being a graphical representation of the system structure,
object model diagrams are constructive. The Rational Rhapsody code
generator directly translates the elements and relationships modeled
in object model diagrams into source code in a number of high-level
languages.
Note: If you have a large diagram and you want to view a specific
area of the diagram while you keep available a view of the diagram
in its entirety, you can use the Bird's Eye window. The Bird's
Eye window (also known as the diagram navigator) provides a high-level
view of the diagram that is currently displayed in the drawing area.
To open this window, select . To enlarge or
shrink the visible area of the diagram in the drawing area, drag an
edge or corner of the rectangular viewing port on the Bird's
Eye window to enlarge or shrink the viewing port. Enlarging the viewing
port has the same effect as zooming out in the drawing area. Shrinking
the viewing port has the same effect as zooming in the drawing area.
