You can use swimlanes to provide an explanation of how
the actions are organized in systems engineering activity diagrams.
About this task
SysML provides several mechanisms to relate
behavior to structure. One of these mechanisms is the swimlane.
The swimlane asserts that a given block, or part, is responsible for
running a set of actions. The swimlanes organize action nodes on the
systems engineering activity diagram, particularly call actions, into
structural partitions.
Procedure
To draw swimlanes, create a swimlane frame and
then a swimlane divide:
- Select the Swimlanes Frame button
.
- Click to place one corner, then drag diagonally
to draw the swimlane frame.
- Select the Swimlanes Divider button
.
- Click the middle of the swimlane frame. Rational® Rhapsody® creates two swimlanes, named swimlane_n and swimlane_n+1,
where n is an incremental integer starting at 0. Rename the
swimlanes as wanted.
If you drag the
swimlane left or right, it also resizes the swimlane frame.
