Adding subactivities

Subactivities are not part of SysML, but the product supports them as an additional feature.

About this task

A subactivity represents the execution of a non-atomic sequence of steps nested within another activity. SysML uses call behavior actions for this function. See Adding Call Behaviors for more information.
Note: The token oriented activities are not supported on sub activities.

Procedure

  1. Click the Subactivity buttonSubactivity button.
  2. In the swimlane, click or click-and-drag to draw the subactivity.
  3. Name the subactivity to refer to an existing activity.
  4. To display the subactivity icon on the lower right corner of the symbol, right-click on the subactivity and select Display Options from the menu.
  5. Click the Icon radio button for the Show Stereotype selections and click OK.

Results

You can navigate directly to the activity diagram for the subactivity by clicking the subactivity icon, described in step 4.
