Rational Rhapsody Gateway configuration types

The IBM® Rational® Rhapsody® Gateway add-on uses two configuration types: text and XML.

The Rational Rhapsody Gateway text configuration defines ways to capture the requirement traceability information from text files using regular expressions. These types can be used with a large variety of text documents, code files, and other data sources that have a corresponding text converter in Rational Rhapsody Gateway, such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Using text types requires a knowledge of regular expressions.

The XML configuration type defines ways to capture the traceability information from XML files using XML patterns. This configuration type can only be used with XML files and documents or data source that have a corresponding XML converter, such as Rational Rhapsody and IBM Rational DOORS®. Using the XML configuration type requires a basic understanding of the XML file format.
