Integrating Rational Rhapsody and Citrix

When using Citrix with IBM® Rational® Rhapsody®, the software needs to run in a virtual environment on Citrix XenApp.

Moving .ini files from the installation directory

The Rational Rhapsody installation wizard places the rhapsody.ini and diffmerge.ini files in the Rational Rhapsody installation directory. For Citrix users, these two files need to be moved (not copied) to the Windows folder. This move enables standard processing for these files.

Standard processing when .ini files change on the server

The first time a user runs on the Citrix client, the terminal server copies all the .ini files from the Terminal Server Windows directory to the Windows directory. These files can be found in the server Documents and Settings directory.

After the .ini files are copied, processing occurs for any .ini file that is changed when the terminal server is in installation mode.

When a user logs in again, the file extension of the old .ini file in the user’s Windows directory is changed to the .ctx extension. The newer .ini files on the system Windows directory are copied to the Windows directory. For each user, Rational Rhapsody uses the rhapsody.ini file that is in the user’s personal Windows directory.
