Getting started with Rational Rhapsody

The IBM® Rational® Rhapsody® family of software provides an analysis, design, and development environment for systems engineers and embedded software developers that integrates into the overall product development lifecycle and helps manage complexity, promote team collaboration, and improve quality.

Software engineers use the product to perform model-driven development for technical, real-time, or embedded systems. The power of graphical modeling transforms the process of code generation so that you are able to depict the behavior of a system and validate it with simulation and automated testing.

Systems engineers use the product in all phases of the systems analysis and design lifecycle. The systems engineer creates cohesive systems engineering models for requirements analysis, trade study analysis, system functional analysis, system architectural design, and subsystem architectural design; and can validate the consistency by using simulation to identify problems early in development.
