Setting up Serena Dimensions for use with Rational Rhapsody

You can set up Serena Dimensions 9.1 for use with IBM® Rational® Rhapsody®.

Procedure

  1. Start the Serena Dimensions Listener Service if it is not already started. To open the Services window, open the Windows Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.
  2. Start the Tomcat server. From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > Serena > ChangeMan > Dimensions 9.1 > Administration Tools > Start Web Tools to open the Tomcat Server window.
  3. Open the Serena ChangeMan Administration Console. From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > Serena > ChangeMan > Dimensions 9.1 > Administration Tools > Administration Console.
  4. On the ChangeMan Dimensions login window, log in as the tool manager.
  5. On the Serena ChangeMan Dimensions Administration Console, select Valid Set Definitions.
  6. On the next page, edit the values for this IDE_PROJECTS valid set:
    1. Click IDE_PROJECTS in the browser.
    2. In the Values section, click the Edit button Edit button icon for the IDE_PPROJECTS value set.
    3. On the list of all the predefined IDEs by Dimensions, modify an IDE that you do not use for Rational Rhapsody.
      In column 1, enter Rhapsody. In column 2, enter rhp.
  7. Click OK to save your changes, and then click Home to return to the home page.
  8. Upload a rule that allows you that specify or edit different Rational Rhapsody files that you want to be able to add, check in, or upload to Serena Dimensions.
    1. On the home page, click Upload Rules
    2. On the Serena ChangeMan Dimensions Administration Console, expand Rhapsody in the browser and select Default Project.
    3. Click the Include button Include button icon in the Include section and add a generic rule that associates all Rational Rhapsody files formats with the General Binary data format and the DAT Dimensions item type, as shown in the following figure.

    4. Click OK.
