Lesson 3: Creating a design package

In this lesson, you create a design package for the functional diagrams in your project.
A package is a collection of objects and object types, events, diagrams, types, use cases, and actors, such as the Analysis package that you examined in lessons 1 and 2. You can create packages in IBM® Rational® Rhapsody® to help organize and structure your model. To facilitate team collaboration and design work reuse, the design-level elements are typically organized in a Design package. Later that package can be reused within a library of multiple components.

To create a design package:

  1. In the model browser, expand the VehicleSensor project.
  2. Right-click Packages and select Add New Package.
  3. Rename the new package Design.
You can see the new package in the model browser.

Lesson checkpoint

In this lesson, you learned how to create a design package and how elements are commonly organized in a model.

In the next lesson, you add an object model diagram showing the classes in your model.
