Modifying, repairing, or removing Rational Rhapsody

The procedure in this topic is useful right after you have installed IBM® Rational® Rhapsody®. After installing the product, if you decide that you must modify, repair, or remove (uninstall) it, you can double-click the setup.exe file for the product to access the Program Maintenance window. The setup.exe file is available in the folder from which you installed the product.
Note: You can also use the Windows Add or Remove Programs feature to remove the product; see Removing the product from a Windows system before upgrading Rational Rhapsody.

Before you begin

If you want to use the Modify option on the Program Maintenance window to add a different compiler, install the compiler on your machine before modifying your Rational Rhapsody installation.

Procedure

  1. In the folder from which you installed Rational Rhapsody, double-click the setup.exe file to start the installation wizard.
  2. Click Next. When the installation wizard detects a version of the product on the system, the wizard opens the Program Maintenance window, where you can modify, repair, or remove the program.
  3. Select the radio button for what you want to do:
    • If you want to add more supported real-time environments to your system, or add a different compiler or more add-on utilities, select Modify, and then click Next.
    • If you want to repair installation errors in the same version of the product, select Repair, and then click Next.
    • If you want to install a new version of Rational Rhapsody, select Remove to remove the current version, and then click Next.
You must remove the current version of the product before you can install a newer version.
  4. Follow through with your choices:
    • If you selected Modify, make your choices and click Next on each page until you come to the Ready to Modify the Program page, and then click Install.
    • If you selected Repair, on the Ready to Repair the Program page, click Install.
    • If you selected Remove, on the Remove the Program page, click Remove.
Note: If you removed the product so that you can install a newer version, restart your machine before installing the newer version.
  5. Click Finish when you are done.
