You can add a value to a tag on the Tags tab
of the Features window, or, if you have more than one value, through
the Tag Value(s) window.
About this task
To add a value to a tag,
enter it in the
Value field.
- If there is only one value, enter it in the Value field
or click the Ellipsis button
next to the field to open
the Rational Rhapsody internal editor.
- If there is more than one value, click the Ellipsis button
next
to the Value field to open the Tag
Value(s) window. The value in the Multiplicity field
must be greater than 1 to enable the Tag Value(s) window.
Procedure
To add values using the Tag Value(s) window:
- Enter a value for each row.
- If the Add New row appears, click
the ellipsis for that row
if you want to enter another
value.
- Click OK.
Results
For tags with multiple values, the values are separated
by commas in the Value field of the Features
window for the tag.
The number of possible rows on the
Tag
Value(s) window corresponds to the value you entered in
the
Multiplicity field for the tag. These are
the common values:
- x - a specific number of values (for example, 1, 2,
or 5)
- * - as many values as you want
- x,y - either x or y (for
example, 3,9)
- x..y - a minimum of x to a maximum
of y (for example, 3..9)
- 1..* - a minimum of x to as
many values as you want (for example, 3..*)
The following examples show how many rows would are on
the Tag Value(s) window for different multiplicity
values for the tag:
- If you enter 3 in the Multiplicity field,
there are three rows on the Tag Value(s) window.
- If you enter *, the Tag Value(s) window opens
with a Add New row. For each value that you
want to add to the tag, click the ellipsis
to create a row in which you can enter a value. Repeat for
as many values that you want to add to the tag.
- If you enter 3,9, three rows are added to the Tag
Value(s) window for you to add three values; and then you
can click the ellipsis in the Add Value row
to add six more rows so that you must enter a total of nine values.
- If you enter 3..9, three rows are added to the Tag
Value(s) window so that you can enter only three values;
or you can click the ellipsis in the Add Value row
to more values, up to a total of nine values.
- If you enter 3..*, three rows are added for you
to enter three values; and then you can click the ellipsis in the Add
Value row to add as many values as you want.
If a tag is a Boolean type, you either select or clear the
check box for each row on the Tag Value(s) window.
If the tag is an element type, such as a class or an object, you click
the Ellipsis button
at the end of each numbered
row to open a browser for your model so that you can select the applicable
element.
Keep in mind the following restrictions:
- If your multiplicity value is greater than 1 and you change the
value to 1, all the previously entered values are cleared when you
click OK on the Features window.
- If you have already entered, for example, five values and you
change the Multiplicity field to 3,
the fourth and fifth values are removed when you click OK.
