You can run different editions of the product with a separate rhapsody.ini file
for each edition for which you have a license and want to use on the
same client on a Microsoft Windows system. The rhapsody.ini file
is stored in the installation directory.
About this task
You do not need administrator privileges
to set up different editions on the computer.
Procedure
- Install IBM® Rational® Rhapsody® Developer.
- Go to Document and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\IBM Rational\IBM Rational Tools\IBM Rational Rhapsody version
number. For example:
C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\IBM Rational\IBM Rational Tools\IBM Rational Rhapsody version
number This directory
contains links for the different languages, depending on your installation.
The possible values are:
- Copy the Rational Rhapsody Developer
edition folder and rename the copied folder to the edition you want,
such as Rational Rhapsody Designer for Systems Engineers.
- Navigate to the newly renamed folder.
- Right-click the Rational Rhapsody for
C++ link and select Properties.
- Replace the -dev_ed switch with -system_designer
-lang=cpp, so that Rational Rhapsody Designer for Systems Engineers (edition
for C++ only) can be used, and select a Rational Rhapsody Designer for Systems Engineers license.
The other edition switches are:
- -dev_ed is the Rational Rhapsody Developer
edition.
- -system_architect is the IBM Rational Rhapsody Architect for Systems Engineers edition.
- -architect is the IBM Rational Rhapsody Architect for Software edition.
- The -lang= parameter can be ada, c, cpp, csharp,
or java, if a language is available for a product.
