Controlling case sensitivity in Rational ClearCase

You have to control case sensitivity in IBM® Rational® ClearCase® to avoid problems if project names are in uppercase.

About this task

When you save a model in a IBM Rational ClearCase directory (under source control), it is assigned a name in lowercase letters. When you connect it to an archive, IBM Rational Rhapsody® creates the directory with an uppercase name. The file <project>.rpy is lowercase and the directory <PROJECT>_RPY in uppercase, which does not work in Rational ClearCase.

Procedure

  1. Change the MVFS settings in the Control Panel > ClearCase applet to be "case preserving."
  2. Reboot the machine so the changes take effect.

Results

If this setting is not changed and a project name has uppercase characters, then, in some cases, Rational ClearCase is not able to find the correct _rpy files.
