Customizing the Quick Information section

The Quick Information section of the Overview page of the Work Item editor contains links to the objects listed on the Links page, such as attachments, subscribers, and related work items. You can customize the Quick Information section to specify which links appear in it.
About this task
To customize the Quick Information section:
  1. In the Team Artifacts view of the Work Items perspective, right-click the project area and select Open.
  2. Click the Process Configuration tab. Expand Project Configuration, then Configuration Data, and then Work Items (advanced). Click Quick Information Configuration.
  3. To create a Quick Information configuration, click Add. Otherwise, select an existing configuration to edit. The Quick Information table lists the links to the presentations in the current configuration. Click Move up and Move Down to adjust the order in which the links appear in the Quick Information section. You can add, remove, and edit links to presentations. When you add a link to a presentation, by clicking Add, specify a title that describes the target of the link; select the kind of target; and select the target of the link.

You can select from the following kinds:

    • Approval: presentation that lists approvals.
    • Attachment: presentation that lists attachments.
    • Potential Duplicates: presentation that shows potential duplicates of the current work item (when not in a closed state) in the Work Items view. This kind is not used by default in the predefined process templates. It is available only in the Eclipse client.
    • Reference: generic presentation for link types to show references.
    • Enumerating Reference: reference presentation for specifying endpoints that link to items, such as change sets. It lists the references by enumerating them (1, 2, 3, and so on), which allows you to access the context menu and hover for the references from the Quick Information section. The predefined Scrum and OpenUp process templates use this for change set links. It requires an endpoint and a link target.
    • Subscriber: presentation that lists subscribers.
    • Workitem: for link types that point to work items.

All kinds except Potential Duplicates require a link target, which is the ID of the presentation. For Workitem and Reference kinds, you must also specify an endpoint target. For example, a link to the parent work item would have a link target of com.ibm.team.workitem.presentation.links (the Links tab) and an endpoint target of Parent.

  4. Click Save to save your changes.

To include a Quick Information configuration in the Work Item editor, use the Editor Presentations aspect editor. Add a Quick Information section to the Overview or other tab. Within the Quick Information section, add a Quick Information presentation. In the presentation definition, add a property named quickinformationConfiguration and set the value to the name of the Quick Information configuration.
