You can perform all work items tasks in the Eclipse client. You
can perform a subset of tasks in the Web client. This section describes how
to work with work items in the Eclipse client.
Work items perspective and views
The Work Items perspective includes the following views: Work
Items, Team Artifacts, Team
Central, My Work, and Tag Cloud.
All these views provide tools to help you create, triage, and work on work
items.
Creating work items
Create a work item to submit a defect, task, or other type
of work request that the project uses.
Finding work items
The primary method for finding work items is to run queries
against the repository. Queries retrieve work items whose attributes
contain values that match those specified in the query. For example,
you might run a query that retrieves all work items whose status attribute
is in an unresolved state.
Triaging work items In some cases, the submitter of
a work item speaks with the developer responsible for the functional
area and assigns the work item to that developer. However, it is also
common that the submitter leaves the work item unassigned, and a member
of the team area associated with the work item category must triage
the work item.
Working on and resolving work items
As you work to address the issues raised in a work item,
periodically update the work item to describe your work and the current
state of the item.
Modifying multiple work items at once
You can select multiple work items in the Work Items view
and make the same modification to all of the work items.
Configuring notifications
You can configure your Jazz™ environment
in several ways so that you are notified of events related to work
items.
Viewing your work item history
Jazz keeps track
of the work items that you work on and the queries that you run, and
provides several ways for you to conveniently access that history.
Exporting work items
You can export data from work items to an HTML or comma-separated
values (CSV) file. You define the scope of the export operation by
specifying a query.
