A Project Release plan is the highest-level
plan in Rational Team Concert™ that
provides a brief overview of the project goals. A Project Release
plan displays top-level work items, such as Stories and Epics associated
to a project area or team area, child team areas, current iteration,
and its child iterations.
Although, you can create a Project Release plan for any iteration,
it is advisable to create a Project Release plan for the top iteration.
The other plan types, such as Team Release plan and Iteration plan,
can be created for child iterations.
Note: If you follow the Scrum
process template, a Project Release plan is called a Product Backlog.
By default, a Project Release plan groups work items based on
the following plan modes:
- Backlog
- Iterations
- Teams
- Work Breakdown
Example
Managing a Product Backlog
A
release or product backlog is managed using a plan editor in Rational Team Concert.
The Plan Editor assists you with stack ranking your backlog items
by using drag and drop or specific keyboard actions. In the View
As section, select Backlog to customize
the Plan Editor view to display the backlog items.
