This tutorial uses Antz to show you how to build a simple Hello
World! COBOL application on a z/OS build machine. With Ant, you
can describe the steps required to build an application using an XML-based
script. Rational Team Concert for System z provides a set of extensions
to Apache Ant called Antz, which makes it possible to build
z/OS-based applications with Ant.
Learning objectives
This information
center describes all of the concepts, tasks, and reference material
related to building with Rational Team Concert for System z. This
tutorial is designed to let you put all of those pieces together to
practice running a complete Rational Team Concert for System z build
from start to finish.
In general, you will learn how to:
- Use the Rational Team Concert for System z data set definition,
translator, and language definition components to define your build
environment.
- Create a shared zComponent project that contains your COBOL source

Specifically, you will learn:
Attention: This tutorial depends on
your successful SMP/E installation of FMIDs HAHB200 (the Rational
Team Concert for System z Build Toolkit) and HAHD200 (Rational Build
Agent). Apache Ant is a Java-based build tool that is similar to the
Unix make utility.
