As you start working on a work item, you can periodically
update the work item to describe your work and the current state of
the work item. With Rational Team Concert™ Client
for Microsoft® Visual Studio
IDE you
can update a work item either in a Web browser or in the Quick
Edit window.

To update a work item:
Procedure
- To start working on a work item, first run a query.
- In the Work Items tool window, do
one of the following:
- Double-click a work item to open the work item in a Web browser.
- Right-click a work item and click Quick Edit.
- If the work item is opened in a Web browser, you can perform
any of the following operations:
- In the Overview tab, modify any
of the work item attributes, such as change the state of the work
item to Start Working, enter the estimate number
of hours in Estimate to resolve the work item,
add a comment, and so on.
- In the Links tab, to add an attachment,
click Browse, select a file and click Open.
To add a subscriber, click Add, enter the user
name and click Add & Close. You can also
relate another work item with this work item, view the change sets
associated with this work item, and the builds that have included
the change sets.
- In the Approvals tab, create
a list of approvers who can approve the work item.
- In the History tab, view the
history of the work item.
- Click Save to save your changes.
- If the work item is opened in the Quick Edit window,
you can modify the attributes of only the Overview tab.
After modifying the attributes, click OK.
- To resolve a work item, open the work item and from the
dropdown list adjacent to Summary select Resolved.
In the adjacent dropdown list, select the type of resolution, such
as Fixed,Works For Me,
or Duplicate.
Note: In the Quick
Edit window, you cannot mark a work item as Duplicate.
