Defining an approval tracking process

You can customize the approval tracking process that team members follow as they work on work items. The approval tracking process is specific to a workflow.
About this task
Use the Approval Trackings editor to specify the workflow action to perform when a user sets an approval type to a specific state.
  1. In the Team Artifacts view of the Work Items perspective, right-click the project area and select Open.
  2. Click the Process Configuration tab. Expand Project Configuration, then Configuration Data, and then Work Items (advanced). Click Approval Trackings.
  3. Select a workflow in the Choose the Approval Tracking to edit list. In the Approval Tracking grid, select an approval type and click Edit. Select the workflow action to perform when a user sets the approval type to a specific state (Approval Target). Click OK. Click Save to save your changes.

For example, in the Defect Workflow in the Scrum process, when a user sets the Verification approval to Approved, the Verify workflow action is performed, which changes the state of the work item from Resolved to Verified. Similarly, when a user sets the Verification approval to Rejected, the Reopen workflow action is performed.
