Using the File Properties wizard

Rational Team Concert™ source control includes a File Properties wizard that you can use if you need to change the MIME content type and line delimiter properties of files in the repository.
About this task

Rational Team Concert source control provides a preference page on which you can associate a MIME content type and line delimiter type with a file name suffix. You typically set these properties before sharing a project to Rational Team Concert source control (for more information, see Specifying file properties and line delimiter types.) If you need to change the file properties, line delimiter type, or both for an individual file, a class of file types, or all the files in a project, use the File Properties wizard:

To use the File Properties wizard:

  1. In the Eclipse Navigator view (or any Eclipse view that supports Team operations), navigate to the file whose properties you want to change. To change file properties for some or all of the files in a project, navigate to the project.
  2. Right click the file or project and click Team > Change File Properties.
  3. The Change File Properties page displays the file's MIME content type and the file's line delimiter. The file's MIME content type is initially determined by Eclipse based on any preference settings you have specified. To change the line delimiter used for this file, use the drop-down control to choose one of the following:
    CR (Mac)
Use the carriage return character as the line delimiter on all platforms. This is the convention typically used by Macintosh operating systems. When a file has this value for the line delimiter property, the specified delimiter is used whenever the file is loaded into a local workspace, regardless of the workspace platform.
    CRLF (Windows®)
Use the character sequence "carriage return line feed" as the line delimiter on all platforms. This is the convention typically used by Windows operating systems. When a file has this value for the line delimiter property, the specified delimiter is used whenever the file is loaded into a local workspace, regardless of the workspace platform.
    LF (Unix)
Use the line feed character as the line delimiter on all platforms. This is the convention typically used by the UNIX® System and Linux®. When a file has this value for the line delimiter property, the specified delimiter is used whenever the file is loaded into a local workspace, regardless of the workspace platform.
    none (binary)
Do not modify the file's line delimiters, regardless of the workspace platform. (Rational Team Concert source control might initially classify a file as binary if it includes more than one type of line delimiter. You can use the wizard to convert files of this type to have consistent line delimiters.)
    Platform
When loading a file into a local workspace, set the file's line delimiter to the platform convention for the content type (for example, line feed on the UNIX System and Linux).
Click Finish to set the property for the file, or click Next to open a page on which you can change the way line delimiters for all files of this type are set.
  4. On the Update Preferences page, you can change your preferences for the way line delimiters are set for all files of this type. You can also click File property preferences to open the Rational Team Concert source control File Properties preference page, where you can view and modify all file property preferences.
