Permissions for performing operations are assigned to individual
roles in the project's process configuration. You can assign permissions
at the project or team level. The default role permissions apply to
all users in the repository. Besides role-based permissions, new users
are also assigned repository permissions based on repository groups.
Repository permissions are configured for each user in the user editor.
Roles-based permissions
Settings for role-based permissions are defined on the Process
Configuration tab or the Process Configuration
Source tab of the Project Area editor or Process Template
editor. These settings apply to the entire project. To modify permissions
for a team area, use the Process Customization tab
or Process Customization Source tab of the
Team Area editor.
Process permissions and behavior are configured independently.
Your team can choose to customize only an operation's permissions,
only the behavior, or both.
Process permissions and behavior can be shared across multiple
iterations and timelines, and they can be configured at any level
of the team configuration. The process framework uses the permissions
and behavior configured for the most specific iteration. For example,
if your team defines permissions at the top level, those permissions
apply to all iterations. But if your team then adds a reference to
a specific iteration and configures the permissions for that iteration,
these permissions are used when that iteration is current.
Repository group permissions
When creating a user, you can assign repository permissions using
group designations. Repository group assignments control the user's
access to the Jazz™ repository.
Assign one or more of the following groups for a new user:
- JazzAdmins: Administrators of a Jazz Repository with full read-write
access
- JazzDWAdmins: Administrators of a Jazz Repository with specific permissions
to control the data warehouse on a Jazz Server
- JazzGuests: Users with read-only access
to the Jazz Repository
- JazzProjectAdmins: Administrators of a Jazz Repository with specific permissions
to create and modify project areas, team areas, and process templates
- JazzUsers: Users with regular read-write
access to the Jazz Repository
