Before you can create a ClearCase® Synchronized Stream,
you must create a Jazz™ user account that provides credentials
with which the synchronization process can access your repository
and team area.
About this task
The
synchronization process account provides Jazz repository credentials
used by the synchronization process. This account requires a special
class of client access license, and should never be used by a team
member to connect to the repository. A Jazz repository administrator
must create this account.
Procedure
- Follow the procedures in Adding and modifying users to
create a user account. The account name can be set to any
string you like (for example, "ClearCase Synchronization
Process Owner"). The preferred User ID for
this account is ccsync. The New ClearCase
Synchronized Stream wizard pre-selects this user ID but
allows you to specify a different user ID if necessary. If you are
using a secure repository, the Jazz Team Server assigns
the account a default password that is the same as the account's user
ID. You can change this password if you want. You must supply the
password whenever you create a new ClearCase Synchronized Stream.
- Grant ccsync JazzUser repository
permissions.
- Assign ccsync a ClearCase Connector Client
Access License. For more information, see Rational Team Concert 2.0.0.2 editions and licenses.
- Before using the Connector for the first time,
verify that ccsync has all of the necessary
permissions. To do this, log into the synchronization host as ccsync
and complete the following ClearCase operations:
- Create a new dynamic view
- See all the desired VOB's in that view
- Do a checkout/checkin to create a new version in that
view
- For a UCM user:
- Create a baseline in the stream for that view
- Lock/unlock the stream
- For a non-UCM user
- Create and apply a label
- Lock/unlock the branch for the view
