Delivering change sets

To make outgoing change sets available to the rest of your team, deliver them.
About this task
As you check in changes to a component, change sets accumulate in the component's Outgoing folder. This folder is visible in the Pending Changes view. The message area of the Pending Changes view toolbar indicates how many change sets are pending and whether they are outgoing or incoming. There are several ways to deliver change sets:
  • To deliver all outgoing change sets, click the Accept all change sets icon icon in the Pending Changes view toolbar.
  • To create a change set from unresolved changes and then deliver it, right-click the Unresolved folder or a project in it and click Check in and deliver. (If you have enabled automatic check-in, you cannot use Check in and deliver.)

To deliver an individual change set:

  1. In the Pending Changes view, navigate to the Outgoing folder of the component that contains the change set.
  2. To include a comment, right-click the change set and click Edit Comment. Many team processes require a change set to include a comment, an association with a work item, or both before you can deliver it.
  3. To specify a non-default flow target before you deliver changes, open the Pending Changes view, right-click the repository workspace, and click Change Flow Target. Select from the list of targets you added to your repository workspace, or enter a text string to search for another stream or workspace. For more information, see Understanding and modifying change flow.
  4. Right-click the change set and click Deliver. If you are delivering to a non-default flow target, you are prompted to confirm.
Results

The outgoing change sets are automatically marked complete if they were not already completed, and then delivered to the flow target(s) of your workspace.

Example
The Pending Changes view has three modes to facilitate check-in and delivery. Click the drop-down menu for the Pending changes mode iconicon in the Pending Changes view toolbar to see the options.
