You can set Microsoft Visual Studio IDE version, C# visualization,
and C# appearance preferences for .NET modeling projects.
About this task
To set preferences for .NET modeling:
Procedure
- Click .
- To set the version of the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE you
are using, in the Which Visual Studio IDE section,
select either Visual Studio 2005 or Visual
Studio 2008. Rational® Modeling Extension
for Microsoft .NET defaults
support for Visual Studio 2008 and only recognizes the IDE that is
selected.
- Optional: To change the default settings for
extracting C# and .NET assembly modeling elements, perform any of
the following steps:
- Set options for visualizing files and folders. Under When
visualizing a C#/.NET Assembly file/folder extract, click
one of the following:
- Only the file/folder element - Default.
This option visualizes files or folders, but hides their declared
elements.
- Only the elements declared in the file/folder -
This option visualizes declared elements, but hides the files or folders
that declare the elements.
- Both the file and the elements declared in the file -
This option visualizes both the files or folders and their declared
elements.
- Set options for visualizing elements. Under When
visualizing an element of a C#/.NET Assembly extract, click
one of the following:
- Only the type element - Default. This option
visualizes types, but hides the declared elements in the type.
- Only the elements declared within the type -
This option visualizes declared elements, but hides the type elements.
- Both the type and the elements declared in the type -
This option visualizes both the types and their declared elements.
- Set options for visualizing elements from a C# file.
Under When visualizing a C# type, click one of
the following:
- Ignore relations to System.Object Class -
Default. This option ignores all relationships to System.Object class.
- Ignore relations to .NET Assembly types -
This option ignores all relationships to .NET assembly types.
- Visualize relations to .NET Assembly types -
This option visualizes all relationships to all .NET assembly types.
- Optional: To set which related types are shown
when visualizing C# source code in modeling diagrams, perform the
following steps:
- Click .NET Show Related Elements.
- Click one of the following options:
- Show all types - Default. Harvests related
types in .NET assemblies for visualization diagrams.
- Ignore types from .NET Assemblies - Select
to improve performance or save space by ignoring related types from
.NET assemblies.
- Optional: To set the appearance of C# elements
in views, such as the Project Explorer, click Appearance.
- Click OK.
