Defining path maps for cross-model referencing

In UML modeling projects, path maps are path variables that specify a location on the file system. You can define path variables so that you can use relative paths when you save models that contain references to other models. This means that users do not have to have the same directory structure to share model files that contain external references.

To define a new path map:

Procedure

  1. Click Windows > Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window, expand Modeling and click Path Maps.
  3. On the Path Maps page, click New.
  4. In the New Variable window, type a name for the new path variable and specify a absolute file location.
  5. Click OK.

Results

Note: You can also modify or delete existing path maps.
