You can share UML models and other resources within or across teams
by importing and exporting them. You can import UML 2.1 and XMI interchange
models as EMX models, or export EMX models as UML 2.1 or XMI interchange models.
You can also import EMX model files and other resources from another workspace
or file location, or export them to another file location.
About this task
You can import and export models of the following formats:
- EMX: Models that you create using the IBM® Rational® modeling products
- UML 2.1: An open-source format that you can use to interchange models
with other UML tools
- XMI: A standard that you can use to interchange models through XML
When you import a model, only the model contents are imported; diagrams
are not. You must manually re-create the diagrams in the new model. Also, if you have several
models that include references to each other, you must select them all and
import them together. If you import the models individually, any cross-model
references might be broken. The same conditions apply when you export a model.
