Connecting parts and ports in composite structure diagrams

In composite structure diagrams, you can add connectors to parts and ports to link two or more instances and to show the communication between roles in a containing classifier. You can connect two internal parts or ports with an assembly connector, or you can connect a port on the external structure compartment to an internal part or port by using a delegate connector.

Before you begin

You must have a composite structure diagram open that contains compatible parts and ports.

About this task

To connect a part and a port in a composite structure diagram:

Procedure

  1. In the Palette, click Connector.
  2. In the diagram editor, complete one of the following steps:
    • To create a delegate connector, click a port on the external boundary of the composite structure diagram and drag the cursor to a compatible port on the border of the structure compartment or inside the shape compartment.
