Showing elements in UPIA diagrams

You can specify that for one or more types of UPIA element be displayed in a class or freeform diagram.

Before you begin

You must create or open a class or freeform diagram in the UPIA project.

About this task

To show UPIA elements in a diagram:

Procedure

  1. In the Palette, on the Explore tab, click UPIA Common > Show Element Types.
  2. Click inside the diagram. The Element Types window opens.
  3. In the Element Types window, from the Search Scope list, select a location to define the scope in which to find element types.
  4. Select one or more element types.
  5. Optional: Click the Show derived element types check box to show all elements from a type hierarchy that is defined in the UPIA profile, without selecting the individual element types.
  6. Click OK. The Element Types query runs and the diagram is populated with the model elements that the query finds. The Query Execution window opens.
  7. Optional: If you want to save the Element Types parameters, click the Save query to the diagram check box. When you store the query in the diagram, you can update the diagram in the future and using the same show element type parameters when you click Refresh.
  8. Click OK.
