In activity diagrams, when you need to describe a complex activity
in a structured activity node, you can create a subdiagram that focuses on
the contents of the structured activity node.
Before you begin
You must be in the
Modeling perspective and have
an activity diagram open that contains a structured activity node.
About this task
To create a subdiagram of a structured activity node:
Procedure
- In the diagram editor, right-click a structured activity node.
- Click .
- In the Project Explorer view, type a name
for the Activity diagram. A new activity diagram opens in
the diagram editor.
Results
As the following figure illustrates, the header of the diagram contains
the state name of the structured activity followed by the name of the new
subdiagram. In this example, the name of the structured activity node is Blank
Model::Activity1::StructuredActivityNode and it contains two opaque actions
that are connected by a control flow. The name of the new diagram, Activity1::StructuredActivityNode::ActivityDiagram1,
is also displayed in the
Project Explorer view.
