In capsule-based state machine diagrams, you can extend
an external transition to an internal state to model direct transitions
to substates.
About this task
You must have a state machine diagram open
that has a parent state that contains a substate.
To extend an
external transition to the substate:
Procedure
- Create an incoming or outgoing transition on the parent
state.
- Right-click the parent state, then click .
- In the parent state, create a transition that connects
the entry or exit point to the desired substate.
The
external transition now extends to the substate through the connection
point of the parent state.
Note: If you create a transition from
a substate to an exit point, you are asked if you want to move the
trigger events of the continuing transition; if you answer no, a broken
transition is created and the triggers of the continuing transition
are deleted since they are no longer valid.
