If you receive an out-of-memory
error when you import a
Rational Rose® RealTime model
into
Rational® Software Architect
RealTime Edition,
you can increase the Java™ virtual machine (JVM) heap size to the
maximum amount.
Before you begin
Before you increase the JVM heap
size, reduce the memory that other parts of
Rational Software Architect
RealTime Edition use
by closing all editors and unnecessary projects.
About this task
Note: The following steps assume that your computer has
at least 2 GB of memory. If your computer has less than 2 GB of memory,
modify the -Xmx argument accordingly.
To
increase the JVM heap size:
Procedure
- Save any open models and close Rational Software Architect
RealTime Edition.
- In a text editor, open the eclipse.ini file that resides
in the following default location: X:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\.
In this example, X represents the drive on which Rational Software Delivery
Platform is installed.
- Increase the heap size by using the -Xmx argument.
Tip: Start by increasing the heap size to -Xmx1024;
then, if needed, go up in 256k increments to a maximum of -Xmx1536.
- Save and close the eclipse.ini file. You can
now start Rational Software Architect
RealTime Edition and
try to import the Rational Rose RealTime model
again.
