In sequence diagrams you can create lifelines to represent a capsule
or object in a system.
About this task
To create a lifeline:
Procedure
- In the Palette, click Lifeline.
- In the editor, click in an interaction frame where you
want to add the new lifeline.
- In the window, select an option to create a part or
to leave the lifeline unspecified.
Note: In the window, selecting
an existing part opens a window that prompts you to select the
part using the search or browse tab in the window.
- In the next window, create a new capsule or specify a new object
or an existing part from the system.
- Type a name for the lifeline and click OK.
Results
When you create a lifeline in a sequence diagram, the
lifeline is aligned vertically with other lifelines in the interaction, and
extends downward. You can resize a lifeline by clicking it and dragging the
anchors vertically or horizontally.
Tip: You can also assign an
existing element type to a lifeline: In the navigation view, click a class,
interface, or data type and drag it onto a lifeline in the interaction frame.
