Creating and refining model-to-model transformation mapping projects

Model-to-model transformation mapping projects, also called mapping projects, enable you to specify source and target metamodels and create a mapping model that defines the relationships between the elements in the metamodels. You can incrementally generate extensible transformation source code that implements the relationships. Working with this level of abstraction enables you to focus on the problem domain instead of the solution domain.

Before you begin

You must enable the Modeling and XML Developer capabilities.

About this task

After you define the mapping model, you create mapping declarations that contain mapping rules. You can further refine mapping rules in a mapping model to customize the behavior of a transformation. As you create a mapping model, you can generate the transformation code.
