User interface reference for Rational Rose RealTime users who migrate models to Rational Software Architect RealTime Edition

The user interface (UI) in Rational® Software Architect RealTime Edition differs from Rational Rose® RealTime. To help you locate similar features in the UI, the following table provides an explanation and general mapping between UI features in Rational Rose RealTime and Rational Software Architect RealTime Edition.

Rational Rose RealTime UI mapping

While Rational Rose RealTime is a standalone tool that integrates with other tools, Rational Software Architect RealTime Edition is a systems modeling tool that resides entirely in an integrated development environment (IDE). Although the windows, editors, and views might be unfamiliar, they contain many UI features that are similar to Rational Rose RealTime.
Note: Several UI features in Rational Rose RealTime share the functionality that a single feature owns in Rational Systems Developer Extension for RealTime.

Diagram window Diagram editor You can create and edit diagram elements by using the diagram editor. Changes you make in the diagram editor can be directly updated in the code through visual editing.
Overview window Outline view The Outline view is a navigational tool that provides a scaled-down view of the diagram editor. It also helps you move to any location in the diagram editor.
Options Preferences The Preferences window enables you to specify settings.
Log window Log view and Problems view The Log view and Problems view report progress, results, errors, warnings, and informational messages for many commands.
Toolbox or Palette Palette The Palette enables you to populate the diagram editor with diagram elements.
