You can migrate from Design Pattern Toolkit (DPTK) tags to the
tags provided by JET using either an automated process or a manual process.
While migrating to the JET project format results in a true JET project,
the following are some of the issues to consider before migrating from DPTK
tags to those provided by JET:
- JET transformations using the DPTK compatibility tags can only run in
the Rational® modeling
products, while transformations employing the JET tags can run in any JET-enabled
Eclipse 3.2 or later shell.
- The JET tags are more consistently designed and easier to use than the
DPTK tags.
- While the DPTK tags will be part of the Rational modeling for some time, they
will not be further enhanced.
Note: The DPTK compatibility tags and the standard JET tags can coexist
in a single pattern or transformation, and DPTK variables are in the same
namespace as the JET XPath variables. For these reasons, templates can be
migrated to the new JET tags one at a time.
