Validating Requirements-to-UML transformation configurations

This content applies to version 7.5.1 or later. You can validate a transformation configuration to ensure that the values in the configuration comply with the requirements of a transformation.

Before you begin

A transformation configuration must exist in the current workspace. Transformation configurations have a .tc file name extension. You can select multiple transformation configuration files and validate them simultaneously. During the validation process, the transformation service attempts to open the transformation source and target, which might impact performance if the source or target model is not open or if the source model is large.

Note: To import archives from Rational® Requirements Composer version 2.0 or later, you must use a Rational modeling product that is version 7.5.5 Interim Fix 002 or later.

About this task

You can validate transformation configurations automatically and manually.
  • To validate transformation configurations automatically, do these steps:
    1. Enable the transformation configuration validation preference by selecting Window > Preferences > Modeling > Transformations.
    2. Select Validate transformation configurations when you open or update them. Each time you open or update a transformation configuration, the transformation service validates it.
  • To validate transformation configurations manually, do these steps:
    1. In the navigation view, select one or more transformation configuration files and right-click them.
    2. Select Transform > Validate.

Results

The Problems view displays errors in the transformation configuration.
