This content applies to version
7.5.1 or later. You
can export elements and diagrams from IBM® Rational® System Architect to
a model in Rational modeling products,
so that you can refine high-level concepts. You can then further refine
implementation details and use the resulting model to implement an
enterprise architecture.
About this task
The following high-level steps describe how to integrate
Rational System Architect data
with models in
Rational modeling products:
- Export selected elements and diagrams from
a Rational System Architect data
encyclopedia into an XML file.
- In a Rational modeling
product, import the XML file into a new or existing model.
- Refine the model.
Note: If the data in Rational System Architect and
the model in the Rational modeling products are
developed concurrently, you should consider how frequently to reconcile
the changes, and also consider whether to create a baseline version
of the model in the Rational modeling
product and put it under version control.
- Optional: Propagate the changes to Rational System Architect:
Note: If the data encyclopedia in Rational System Architect was
updated since the last time that you imported it into a Rational modeling product, make sure that
you import the most recent version into the model.
- Export the model to an XML file. You can overwrite the existing
XML file or create a new one.
- Import the XML file into Rational System Architect.
