Applying custom UML profiles to models

Before you can apply the stereotypes and constraints of a profile to model elements, you must first apply the profile to the model.

Before you begin

Before you can apply a profile to a model, a model must be open in the Project Explorer view.

About this task

To apply a custom UML profile to a model:

Procedure

  1. In the Project Explorer view, click a model.
  2. In the Properties view, click the Profiles tab.
  3. On the Profiles page, click Add Profile.
  4. In the Select Profile window, in the Deployed Profile list, click a profile. You can also select a profile that exists in a workspace or other location within the file system.
  5. Click OK.
Note: You can also remove missing profiles to clean up bad profile applications on your model. Select an applied profile from the table, and then click Remove Profile. When you remove (un-apply) a profile, all related stereotype information is removed. If you decide to re-apply the profile, stereotype information is not restored.
Note: You can use the elements listed under the Profile Use section of the Explore palette when working inside a model with a profile applied to it.
