Supported Rose Petal versions

There are many versions of Rational Rose® and Petal (PTL), the platform-independent syntaxRational Rose uses to store models and model components in a file. Rational Rose models that contain petal version 47, 48, or 50 are the only versions that you can import into the new UML modeling products.

If you import a model file that is based on an unsupported petal version (version 46 and below), you may lose data during the import process. It is recommended that you upgrade your model to petal version 47 or greater within Rational Rose if you want to import a model that currently resides in an unsupported petal version.

Note: To determine the petal version for a specific model, open the MDL file (Rational Rose model file) in a text editor and look at the header of the file. The header lists the petal version and corresponding Rational Rose build number.

To upgrade your model, open and save the Rational Rose model in a version of Rational Rose that is based on petal version 47 or greater. Refer to the table below for petal details.

Once you upgrade your model to a supported petal version, you can safely import your model without losing data.

The following table shows the Rational Rose release name along with the corresponding Rational Rose model and petal versions.
