In a UML model, you can run one of the four traceability queries
on a context element to shows its trace relationships. For example, you can
trace a specific use case back to its requirements to understand the motivation
behind that use case, or you can trace a requirement to its implementations
to see how it is realized.
About this task
To query elements for trace relationships:
Procedure
- In the Project Explorer view, select and right-click
an element; then click Query > Traceability.
- Complete one of the following steps:
- To discover all specifications at all levels of abstraction, click All
Specifications.
- To discover all specifications at the next level of abstraction, click Specifications.
- To discover all implementations at all levels of abstraction, click All
Implementations.
- To discover all implementations at the next level of abstraction,
click Implementations.
- In the Save as window, specify a parent folder
and file name and click OK.
- Optional: To further explore specifications and implementations
in a diagram, in the Palette, click the Explore tab and click Traceability.
To display specifications or implementations at the next level of abstraction,
click Specifications or Implementations; then click an element
in a diagram.
