This topic and its subtopics explain how to build a workstation
COBOL or PL/I project.
Rational® Developer
for System z® does not support
local COBOL or PL/I builds on the Linux platform.
To build a local project, follow these steps:
- Switch to the z/OS® Projects perspective
- In the z/OS Projects
view, expand the list of projects, subprojects, and folders to display
the main source file.
- Right-click that file and click Nominate as
Entry Point.
- Right-click the project and click Rebuild Project.
Note: The Rebuild Project action
is not available for workstation COBOL and PL/I projects on the Linux platform and on the Windows 7 platform because local
compiler support is not provided for those platforms. The Rebuild
Project action is not available on other Windows platforms if the Windows COBOL or PL/I compilers are not installed.
- If the build is unsuccessful, build errors are presented
as entries in the Remote Error List view. Double-click an entry in
the Remote Error List view to open the source file in which the related
error is found.
- If the build is successful, a DLL file (file extension .dll or .ibmcob)
or an executable file (file extension .exe) is
available in the BuildOutput folder; to run the
executable, double-click the name of the executable.
