Whenever the host editor displays another application screen (even if the new application screen is blank or is just a sign-on screen), the host editor automatically evaluates the currently loaded screen descriptions (see Currently loaded screen descriptions) to determine which screen description or screen descriptions in the group, if any, match the newly displayed application screen.
The host editor does this evaluation of screen descriptions whenever a new application screen is displayed, no matter what mode the host editor is in (screen operations mode or flow mode) and no matter whether a recording is in progress or not.
The host editor displays the status of screen recognition in the first line of the information area at the upper right of the host editor's Terminal page (see Information area):
If the host editor finds in the currently loaded screen descriptions only one screen description that matches the currently displayed application screen, then the host editor displays the name of that matching screen description on the first line of the information area. This matching screen description is called the recognized screen description.
If the host editor finds more than one screen description among the currently loaded screen descriptions that matches the currently displayed application screen, then the host editor opens the Select Screen Description window, which contains a list of the names of the matching screen descriptions. This window prompts you to select from the list one of matching screen descriptions to become the recognized screen description:
To use this window:
Click OK.
If the host editor does not find among the currently loaded screen descriptions any screen description that matches the currently displayed application screen, then the host editor displays on the first line of the information area the following message: The screen is unrecognized. Also in this case, if you start to record a flow or are in the process of recording a flow, the host editor displays the Screen Not Recognized window and allows you to capture the application screen so that it can be recognized (see Unrecognized application screen during recording).
