Message component properties

The Properties view displays property value information for a message component that is selected in the design canvas or Outline view.
Note: You must press Enter to commit properties changes and update the Outline view.

MFS Message

You can set the following Basic properties:
Name
Specify the message name.
Type
Select the message type from the drop-down list.
Fill
Specify the fill character from the drop-down list.
Format
This parameter lists the referenced device format in the SOR= operand. The value is taken from the FMT label and cannot be modified.
Next Message
Specifies a request to dequeue the output message in progress (if any), and send the next output message or return an information message indicating that no next message exists.
Paging
Specify whether operator logical paging (forward and backward paging) is to be provided for messages edited using this control block. The option is disabled by default, which means that only forward paging of physical pages is provided.

This option is only available for the Output type.

Ignore
Specify whether device features are to be ignored for this device.

MFS Logical Page

You can set the following Basic properties:
Name
Specify a name to uniquely identify this statement. The length is from one to eight alphanumeric characters.
DPAGE Name
Specify the name of the DPAGE statement that defines the device format for this logical page.
The following logical page properties are used to describe a conditional test that, if successful, specifies that the segment and field definitions following this LPAGE are to be used for output editing of this logical page. The specified portion of the first segment of a logical page is examined to determine whether it is greater than (>), less than (<), greater than or equal to (≥), less than or equal to (≤), equal to (=), or not equal to (≠) the specified literal value, in order to determine whether this LPAGE is to be used for editing. COND= is not required for the last LPAGE statement in the MSG definition.
Message Field
Select the associated message field from the drop-down list.
Offset
Specify the offset value, which changes the starting position of the selected message field.
SegOffset
Specify the offset value, which changes the starting position of the logical page.
Operator
Select an operator from the drop-down list.
Value
Specify the literal value that should be used to compare for the logical page condition.
Prompt
Specify the name of the DFLD into that MFS should insert the specified literal when formatting the last logical page of an output message.
Prompt Value
Specify the prompt value.

MFS Segment

You can set the following Basic properties:
Name
Specify the segment name.
Exit Number
For the segment edit exit routine interface, this property is the exit routine number. The valid range is from 0 to 127.
Exit Vector
For the segment edit exit routine interface, this property is a value to be passed to the exit routine when it is invoked for this segment. The valid range is from 0 to 255.
Graphic
For an input message, this setting specifies whether IMS™ should perform uppercase translation on the segment, if the destination definition requests it. This option is disabled by default.

MFS Message Field

You can set the following Basic properties:
Name
Specify the field name.
Device Field
Length
Specify the field length.
Literal
Specify the literal value to be inserted into the input message.
First Byte
Justify
Select the field justification from the drop-down list.
System Literal
Select the system literal from the drop-down list.
Fill
Select a character to be used to pad this field when the length of the data received from the device is less than the length of this field.
You can set the following Attributes properties:
Extended Attributes
Exit Number
This parameter sets the exit routine number for the field edit exit routine interface. The range of values is from 0 to 127.
Exit Vector
This parameter sets the value to be passed to the exit routine when it is invoked for this field. The range of values is from 0 to 255.
Attributes
This option specifies whether the application program can modify the 3270 attributes.
System Control Area
This option specifies an output field as the system control area, which is not displayed on the output device.
