Viewing the application screen corresponding to a Next Screen entry

In the Outline view, click one of the screen descriptions in a list of Next Screens to see an image of the application screen that corresponds to that screen description.

This feature is useful when you are using the screen operations editor to edit a screen operations file and you want to verify that a screen description listed in a list of next screens corresponds to the application screen that you think it corresponds to.

To see an image of the application screen:
  1. Verify that the screen operations editor is open and that the Actions tab is selected.
  2. In the Outline view, click the name of the screen description that you are interested in. (If the Outline view is not visible, see Opening or reopening a view.)

The screen description editor displays in the Actions tab of the screen operations editor an image of the application screen corresponding to the screen description.

Note: The screen operations editor gets the information for the image of the application screen from the screen information stored in the screen message to which the screen description belongs. More specifically:
  1. The screen operations editor searches for the screen message file to which the screen description belongs. (For example, FileBrowse_1.sfmxsd. However, a screen description need not have the same name as the screen message file that contains it.)
  2. The screen operations editor builds the image of the application screen from information about the application screen that was stored in the screen message file when the screen message file was created (for example, when you captured the screen in the host editor). This information is separate from any screen description contained in the screen image file.
