Lesson 3: Create the property group to associate with Project C, z/OS subprojects GAM0VII and GAM0VMI

In this lesson, you will learn how to create the property group to associate with Project C, z/OS® subprojects GAM0VII and GAM0VMI. These two subprojects make up the interface for the Global Auto Mart sample.

To create this particular property group:

  1. Make sure you are in the z/OS Projects perspective, and are connected to the host system.
  2. Open the Property Group Manager view, right click on the host system, and select New Property Group. The Property Group Editor will open.
  3. In the Name text field, enter COBOL Interface Compile. Enter a description.
  4. Open the COBOL tab at the bottom of the Property Group Editor, and select Runtime Environments from the left panel of options.
  5. Check the check box marked CICS. This sets the property group to use CICS®.
  6. Now, select Procedures and Steps from the left panel of options.
  7. Expand the procedure, ELAXFCOC and select the step, COBOL that appears.
  8. Scroll down to edit the COBOL Compile Step Options.
  9. Enter in the data sets on the host system that correspond to the Listing Output Data Set, Debug Data Set, and Object Deck Data set.
  10. In the Copy Libraries text field, include the data sets on the host where the COPYBOOKS were uploaded to, the CICS Copy Library where the COBOL DFHAID can be found, and the SQLCA copylib, if it is not a file the procedures point to.
  11. If XML Feedback is desired, check the Support Error Feedback check box, and enter the appropriate data set on the host system in the Data set Qualifier for Compile Errors text field.
  12. Open the LINK tab at the bottom of the Property Group Editor and select Procedures and Steps from the left hand panel of options.
  13. Expand the procedure, ELAXFLNK and highlight the LINK step.
  14. Scroll down to edit the Link Step Options.
  15. In the Link Libraries text field, enter any link libraries that are needed for the project and debugging.
  16. In the Load Module Location text field, enter the location of the load library that CICS uses.
  17. Open the JCL tab at the bottom of the Property Group Editor.
  18. Ensure that the JCL Job Card is correctly configured for compiling on the host system and that the JCL Data Set is appropriately set to the correct partitioned data set where the created JCL should be stored.
  19. Click save.
You should see your property group added to the list of property groups associated with the host in the Property Group Manager view.
