Do not use the ESQL format when you specify a literal value for the Value field on the General tab of the Assign transform.
Instead using the following formats for literal values:
For a literal string, type the string: 100 State Street. Do not enclose the string in single quotes (unless you want to include actual single quotes in the literal string).
For a literal integer, type the numeric value: 1000.
To specify an Assign transform:
Verify that the type of the transform that is selected in the mapping routine area is Assign.
In the Properties view, select the General tab.
In the General tab, type the literal value that you want to be stored into the target element.
When you specify the literal value, use the formats described above in Specifying a literal value for an Assign transform.
Press Enter.
At runtime:
The runtime environment stores the literal value into the target element.
