Rational Developer for System z

Package Explorer configuration

To work with projects in the Package Explorer or Navigator, they must be shared with SCLM. To share projects with SCLM, do the following:
  1. Select the project in the Package Explorer, right click and select Team -> Share Project. The Share Project dialog is displayed with a list of repository providers.
  2. Select SCLM.
  3. Click Next.

The SCLM Location dialog is displayed where you can enter the location of the SCLM server. This requires the IP address of the server location and port number if you connecting through an HTTP server, or the connection name of an available RSE connection. The Project Filter field allows you to specify an individual project or to obtain a list of SCLM project names using a wildcard (*) filter.

  4. Enter the location and configuration details of the SCLM server and SCLM project you want to link to.
Note: If this is the first time you have logged into this server, you will be prompted for a userid and password. This is the z/OSĀ® host userid and password.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If you know the name of the SCLM project you want to link to, enter it into the text field. If you are not sure, use a wildcard filter.
Note: You must have the required data set (file) access permissions to use the SCLM project. The SCLM system administrator can configure access for you.
  7. Enter an alternate project definition in the Alternate Project field if your SCLM administrator has set them up, or leave this field blank to use the default SCLM project. Please refer to the Software Configuration and Library Manager (SCLM) Guide and Reference for a full explanation of defining SCLM projects in different ways.
  8. Select the development group you have been assigned from the Development Group listbox.

You must know what development group you have been assigned to by the SCLM Administrator. The drop-down list contains the development groups assigned for that project. If you select another project, clicking the Retrieve button next to the drop-down list populates that list. Different projects can have different development groups assigned to them. Refer to SCLM fundamentals or the Software Configuration and Library Manager (SCLM) Guide and Reference for a full description of development groups.

  9. Click Finish. This registers the SCLM provider to that project.

You can now use the SCLM functions to work with this project.

If this project is incorrect, you can unmap the project. To unmap the project, select Team- > Unmap the project from SCLM. This un-registers the SCLM provider and the project labels have the SCLM references removed. SCLM services are no longer be available to that project.

To use the Package Explorer, SCLM services must be registered against each projects individually. There is no restriction on the number of locations, and different projects can be mapped to different SCLM locations. This is only available through the Package Explorer.
