Connecting with a host system

Use the host editor to start a session with a host system.

When you open a host connection file with the host editor, the host editor automatically attempts to connect with the host system using the properties stored in the host connection file (see Opening a host connection).

The session is displayed on the Terminal tab of the host editor (see Terminal tab).

If the host editor is open but the session is not connected, then you can attempt to connect to the host system by following these steps:
  1. Make sure that the host editor's Terminal tab is active and topmost (see Terminal tab).
  2. Click the Connect to Host icon Connect to Host on the host editor's toolbar.
  3. If the session is not connected:
    1. Verify that the host connection is configured properly (see Properties tab).
    2. Click the Connect to Host Connect to Host icon again.
  4. If the session is still not connected:
    1. Verify that the line is active and that the host is configured properly.
    2. Click the Connect to Host Connect to Host icon again.
