Using the SCLM Developer Toolkit you can perform source code configuration management functions on files that are ultimately controlled by SCLM. You can work on projects that include a mix of workstation and mainframe based languages. In this way, the SCLM Developer Toolkit allows you to use Java tools available in Eclipse to develop applications. To work with standard Eclipse projects, the SCLM Developer Toolkit provides a set of General functions that are available from the Team menu when working in the Workbench Navigator.
Alternatively, you can use the SCLM view functions to edit, build, and promote SCLM artifacts, such as COBOL members, directly. Refer to SCLM view functions for details about the functions available in the SCLM Explorer Mode and SCLM Developer Mode.
An additional feature is provided by the Compare With menu function. This function is not available from the Team menu but is still used as part of the SCLM general functions.
In some instances, based on the properties registered against a project, different functions will be filtered. For example, if an IDE file is marked as not in SCLM, then Team functions such as Edit and Save will not be available for that resource.
