View menu

This topic describes View menu.

The options on the View menu control visual features and do not affect the function of the flow. To open the View menu, select View on the main menu of the workbench when the flow editor has the input focus.

The following sections describe the View options:

Zoom options

The following table shows the zoom options:
Option: Description:
Zoom In Zooms in the view of the canvas shown in the editor area.
Zoom Out Zooms out the view of the canvas shown in the editor area.
Note: To see the entire canvas, use the Overview mode of the Outline view, (see Outline view).

Manhattan Layout

This option switches the lines connecting nodes on the flow editor canvas between two styles: the normal style and the Manhattan style.

Grid options

The following table shows the grid options.
Option: Description:
Show Grid Shows a grid of dots that you can use to check the alignment of nodes.
Snap to Grid Causes the flow editor to automatically reposition nodes so that they lie along the nearest horizontal and vertical grid lines.
Grid Properties Opens the Grid Properties window, which allows you to set grid spacing.

Align options

The following table show the entries on the Align submenu:
Note: To enable these entries, you must first use the mouse to draw a marking rectangle around the group of nodes that you want to align (see Marking rectangle).
Option: Description:
Align Left Aligns the icons to the leftmost node in the current group of nodes.
Align Center Aligns the icons to the centermost node in the current group of nodes.
Align Right Aligns the icons to the rightmost node in the current group of nodes.
Align Top Aligns the icons to the topmost node in the current group of nodes.
Align Middle Aligns the icons to the middlemost most node in the current group of nodes.
Align Bottom Aligns the icons to the bottommost node in the current group of nodes.

Distribute options

The following table shows entries on the Distribute submenu:
Note: To enable these entries, you must first use the mouse to draw a marking rectangle around the group of nodes that you want to distribute (see Marking rectangle).
Option: Description:
Distribute Box Displays a dotted-line rectangle showing the current group of nodes.
Distribute Horizontally Within the area enclosed by the distribute box, spaces the nodes out evenly along the horizontal axis.
Distribute Vertically Within the area enclosed by the distribute box, spaces the nodes out evenly along the vertically axis.

Layout options

The following table shows entries on the Layout submenu:
Note: The Layout options operate on all the nodes on the canvas.
Option: Description:
Left to Right Lays out the nodes in the canvas in order left-to-right along the upper edge of the canvas.
Right to Left Lays out the nodes in the canvas in order right-to-left along the upper edge of the canvas.
Top to Bottom Lays out the nodes in the canvas in order top-to-bottom along the left edge of the canvas.
Bottom to Top Lays out the nodes in the canvas in order bottom-to-top along the left edge of the canvas.

Rotate options

The following table shows entries on the Rotate submenu:
Note: To enable these entries, you must first either:
  • Select a single node; or
  • Use the mouse to draw a marking rectangle around the group of nodes whose terminals you want to rotate (see Marking rectangle).
Option: Description:
Left to Right Places the input terminals on the left side of the nodes and the output terminals on the right side of the nodes.
Right to Left Places the input terminals on the right side of the nodes and the output terminals on the left side of the nodes.
Top to Bottom Places the input terminals on the top side of the nodes and the output terminals on the bottom side of the nodes.
Bottom to Top Places the input terminals on the bottom side of the nodes and the output terminals on the top side of the nodes.
