The ability to create a screen message from a Basic Mapping Support
(BMS) map allows you to create a flow that interacts with a terminal application
through BMS.
Contents of a screen message that contains BMS map information
The contents of a screen message that contains BMS map information
are essentially the same as the contents of an ordinary screen message that
is created by capturing an application screen in the host editor, but there
are a few important differences.
When the flow type is Link3270 Bridge -- BMS map information When the flow type in the generation
properties file is Link3270 Bridge, then the Generate Runtime
Code wizard can process a screen message in the flow
differently, depending on: (a) whether the screen message contains
BMS information; and (b) the target runtime set in the generation
properties file.
When the flow type is FEPI -- BMS map information
When a flow uses screen messages that contain BMS map information,
and the flow type in the associated generation properties file is
FEPI, then the Generate Runtime Code wizard ignores any BMS information
in the screen messages.
Assigning BMS field names You can use the BMS Assign Field Names wizard to add BMS information from a BMS map to an existing screen message that was originally created by capturing the same application screen in the host editor.
