The System z® LPEX
Editor and the COBOL Editor let you remove specified unnecessary words
from a COBOL program.
Before you begin
Before you begin, you must open a COBOL file with the System z LPEX Editor or the
COBOL Editor.
About this task
A COBOL file can contain the following unnecessary, or
"noise" words:
IS, THEN, and PROCEED TO. Removing them has no effect on compilation.
Procedure
To remove noise words, complete the following steps:
- Right-click in the editor window. A menu
is displayed.
- Click .
- Select the check box for each unnecessary word that you
want removed.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- Click OK.
- Click Preview after optionally selecting Force
preview. A "Found problems" window
is displayed.
- If you clicked Preview in the previous
step, click Continue. A preview
window is displayed.
- Click OK.
