Rational Developer for System z

Build

To invoke the SCLM build services from the Package Explorer, select the appropriate file, right click and select Team -> Build. To invoke the SCLM build services from the SCLM View, select the member, right click and select Build. The Build Options page is displayed. For detailed information about the build settings on this page, refer to the Build services topic.

The Build function allows you to invoke the SCLM build services. The SCLM Developer Toolkit Plug-in has the additional capacity of enabling Java/J2EE builds on the z/OS® host in addition to other (host) languages. The standard SCLM build services are presented through the Build dialog.

Build services can be submitted online or in batch mode. SCLM can be configured to prevent the use of on-line builds initiated from the SCLM Developer Toolkit.

If SCLM has been configured in this way, an error dialog is displayed indicating that online builds are not permitted by SCLM.

The traditional manner of building SCLM projects is through the selection of an Archdef member and selecting the build operation. This form of the operation is best utilized using the SCLM Explorer Mode. These functions allow the full listing of an Archdef defined for the SCLM project.
