Adding a source message or a target message to a mapping routine

To add a source message or a target message to a mapping routine, click the Add a source message Add a source message icon or the Add a target message Add a source message icon on the toolbar of the mapping routine area.
Note: The mapping editor displays source messages on the left side of the mapping routine area, target messages on the right side, and transforms in the center (see Canvas, including Source messages, Target messages, and Transforms).
Important: You may need to scroll the editor area of the mapping editor to the right to see the target messages.

To add a source message or a target message to a mapping routine:

  1. On the toolbar in the mapping routine area of the mapping editor click one of the following icons:
    • Click the Add a source message icon to add a source message.
    • Click the Add a target message icon to add a target message.

    The Select Message window opens.

  2. In the Select Message window, expand the message file containing the message you want to add and select the message.

  3. Click OK.

The mapping editor adds the message that you selected to the canvas of the mapping routine area.

Note: The mapping editor actually adds to the mapping routine a reference to the source or target message, not the message itself (see Not the message itself, but a reference to a message).
