Creating z/OS® projects
and subprojects provides a way to organize your remote files on your
local workstation. This lesson will guide you through the steps to
set up the needed z/OS project
and subprojects to complete this tutorial.
Note: The subprojects are named for the file that is contained
within the subproject. For example Project C, subproject GAM0VMI will
contain the file GAM0VMI.cbl
To create the z/OS projects:
- Open the z/OS Projects or Enterprise
Projects view
by selecting, from the main menu, Window > Open
Perspective > z/OS Projects or Enterprise
Projects. You may need to
select Other, scroll down, and select z/OS Projects or Enterprise
Projects if it does not
appear as one of the first options shown.
- Right click in the z/OS Projects or Enterprise
Projects view and select New > z/OS Projects or Enterprise
Projects.
- In the dialog box that appears, fill in the Host
Name as Project A, and select the
radio button with the option, "Do not create a subproject now." This
project will be used to assemble the BMS maps.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to create a two more projects named Project
B and Project C. Project B will be used
to assemble and link the BMS maps and Project C will be used to compile
the COBOL source files.
- Create a subproject for Project A by right clicking on
it in the z/OS Projects or Enterprise
Projects view
and selecting New > MVS Subproject.
- In the New MVS Subproject dialog
box, enter GAM0MC1 as the name, select the radio
button with the option, "Do not associate the subproject with a property
group," and select Finish.
- If you are unable to select Finish,
check to make sure you are connected to a remote system. If you are
not connected, connect to the system, and then repeat the steps to
create the MVS™ subproject.
- Create two more MVS Subprojects
for Project A by following step 6. Name these projects GAM0MC2 and GAMOMC3.
- Under Project B, create three subprojects with the same
names as the three subprojects under Project A.
- Under Project C, create four subprojects with the following
names: GAM0VMI, GAM0VMM, GAMOVII,
and GAMOVSI
You should now have several subprojects under the z/OS projects stored on your local
machine.
