Overview of creating a software analysis configuration

This topic provides an overview of creating a software analysis configuration
Before you create an analysis configuration you must do the following tasks:
  1. Create any custom categories and custom rules that you want to use (optional) (see Creating custom categories and rules).
  2. Open a perspective, typically one of the following: z/OS® Projects, Enterprise Development, or AIX® COBOL.
  3. For projects that use local files:
    1. Create a project, such as a z/OS project.
    2. Import or create local COBOL source files.
  4. For projects that use remote files:
    1. Create a subproject, such an MVS™ subproject or a z/OS UNIX subproject.
    2. Include any remote COBOL source files that you want to use.
To create a software analysis configuration:
Note: These instructions assume that you are creating a software analysis configuration for a local project. You can select other scope options in the software analysis configuration editor (see Creating a software analysis configuration) and you can override the configured scope at runtime (see Running a software analysis; runtime scope).
  1. Open the software analysis configuration editor (see Opening the software analysis configuration editor).
  2. On the Scope tab, select Analyze selected projects and select the project that you want to review. (For this step and the next see Creating a software analysis configuration).
  3. On the Rules tab, select the rules that you want to use in the code review. For each selected rule, set the severity to Recommendation, Warning, or Severe.
  4. Click Apply to save your analysis configuration.

You are now ready to run the COBOL code review on your project (see Running a software analysis; runtime scope).
