Running the stored procedure

You can run the stored procedure to test the successful execution of the run, the existence of the run set, the logic of the routine, and the accuracy of the output arguments and the result sets. Results of running a stored procedure from the workbench are displayed in the SQL results view.

To run the stored procedure:

  1. In the Data Project Explorer view, expand SPDevelopment > Stored Procedures, right-click on SPEMPLOYEE, and select Run. The Specify Parameter Values window opens.
  2. In the Value field, type D11. D11 is the ID for a department (EMPLOYEE.WORKDEPT) in the EMPLOYEE database. When you enter this value, the stored procedure will return rows that match this department ID.
  3. Click OK.
The SQL Results will display any messages regarding the status of the run. The Results page will contain any result sets. For this tutorial, the results show D11 in the WORKDEPT column.
