Overview of push-to-client

This topic provides an overview of using push-to-client to distribute COBOL software analysis configurations.
Note: For detailed information about push-to-client see Distributing product and configuration updates.

Push-to-client allows you to store software analysis configurations and other information in a central location and then push them out to client workstations so that your developers have a consistent workspace environment.

To use push-to-client you first configure a remote z/OS® system as a push-to-client primary system. There may also be nonprimary systems that shadow the primary system. The next step is to create a master workspace on one workstation and configure connections between the workstation and the push-to-client server. Finally, you export software analysis configurations from the master workspace workstation to the push-to-client server.

When a user at a client workstation connects to a primary or nonprimary push-to-client server, the push-to-client components determine whether there are software analysis configurations to be downloaded to the client. If so, then a message is displayed on the client workstation and the configurations on the push-to-client server are downloaded.
