Use this wizard to easily update a template with new or
changed source code.
Before you begin
A connection to a z/OS® system
must first be established in the Remote System Explorer view of Rational® Developer for System z®. Data sets containing
changed data structures and templates created from these data sets
must also be available on your host system.
About this task
This wizard allows existing templates to be recompiled to
include changes to the templates data structure without interfering
with other useful saved information such as record criteria or filed
attributes. Refer to the following procedure to update a template.
Procedure
- Launch the Update template wizard from the pop-up menu
by clicking File Manager then Update
Template form Source after preselecting a template.
- The UpdateTemplate wizard opens.
- The fields labeled System and Template are
pre populated based on the template you selected before starting the
wizard. If you would like to change your template, select the Browse button
and navigate to the template that you would like to update. Click Next to
move to the next page.
- On the Copybook selection page, any copybooks that were
previously used to create or update the template are listed. Use the
buttons provided to rearrange the order, add, remove, or edit the
existing copybooks. The copybook selections made here will be used
to update the template. Select Next to continue.
- Select which compilation options you would prefer to
compile the template with. Choose between the options used previously
to compile the template, or the compilation options currently defined
in the associated property group. If you choose to use the currently
associated property group, you can use the options provided in the
wizard to make any final alterations to the property group before
compiling the template.
- Select Finish to update the template and exit the
wizard.
Results
The template you selected will be updated to reflect the
new data structures found in the copybooks that you identified in
the wizard and your updated template will open in the Template Editor
automatically.
