Setting preferences for JCL templates

Use the JCL templates page of the Preferences window to modify the JCL templates.

For important information about the JCL templates see Step B2. (Recommended) Customize the JCL templates.

This topic contains the following subtopics:

General information

Follow these steps to open the JCL Templates page of the Preferences window:
  1. On the menu bar of the workbench select Window > Preferences. The Preferences window opens.

  2. In the left pane of the Preferences window, expand Enterprise Service Tools > Service Flow Projects and select JCL Templates.

  3. The JCL Templates page of the Preferences window opens.

Modifying global JCL templates and local JCL templates

For more information on global JCL templates (one set of JCL templates which applies to all service flow projects in the workspace) and local JCL templates (each service flow project has one set of JCL templates that applies only to that service flow project) see Local JCL templates and the global JCL templates.

To modify the global JCL templates:
  1. Use the controls in the JCL Templates page of the Preferences window (see the following subtopic titled Controls for working with JCL templates).
  2. When you have finished making changes click OK to save the changes or Cancel to discard them.
To open a set of local JCL templates:
  1. On the JCL Templates page of the Preferences window, click the control Configure Project Specific Settings at the upper right of the page. The Choose Project window opens.
  2. In the Choose Project window, select an existing service flow project and click OK. The window Properties for <service_flow_name opens.

To modify a set of local JCL templates:
  1. Open the local JCL templates that you want to modify, as described in the previous paragraph.
  2. In the Properties for <service_flow_name window:
    1. Select the check box Enable project specific settings.
    2. Use the controls in this window to modify the JCL templates for the specified service flow project.
      Note: The controls are the same as the controls for the global templates on the JCL Templates page of the Preferences window (see the following subtopic titled Controls for working with JCL templates).
    3. When you have finished making changes click OK to save the changes or Cancel to discard them.

To enable or disable a set of local JCL templates:
  1. Open the local JCL templates that you want to enable or disable, following the previous instructions for opening a set of local JCL templates.
  2. In the Properties for <service_flow_name window:
    1. Select or clear the check box Enable project specific settings.
    2. Click OK to save the change or Cancel to discard it.

Controls for working with JCL templates

The controls for modifying JCL templates are the same for both the global JCL templates and the local JCL templates:
Edit
This button opens the selected JCL template in an editor so that you can make changes. When you are finished making changes, click OK on the editor window to keep the changes or click Cancel on the editor window to discard the changes.
Note: These changes are lost if you click Cancel on the main window, or saved if you click Apply on the main window.
Import
This button allows you to import a JCL template from the local file system.
Note: The name of the file that you are importing must match the name of an existing JCL template.
Import from Host
This button allows you to import one or more JCL templates from members in partitioned data sets on a remote z/OS® system.
Important: This option is available only if you have created an MVS™ connection to the remote z/OS system (see Step B3(a). Create a connection to the remote z/OS system).
To import a JCL template:
  1. Click Import from Host. The window Import remote JCL Templates opens. This pane displays the MVS connections that you have created in the Remote Systems view.
  2. In the window Import remote JCL Templates:
    1. In the table:
      1. Expand the icon for one of the MVS connections (for example, system.company.com).
      2. Expand My Data Sets.
      3. Select the data set members that you want to import.
        Important: A selected data set member must have the same name as an existing JCL template for the import to be successful.
    2. Click OK to import the JCL template or Cancel to cancel the operation.
  3. If you clicked OK then the Import JCL Results window opens.
    Important: In the Import JCL Results window click Details and read the status messages to find out whether the import was successful.
Export
This button allows you to export the selected JCL template to a directory in the local file system as a text file.
Export all
This button allows you to export all the JCL templates to a directory in the local file system as text files.
Restore Defaults
This button causes each of the JCL templates to be re-initialized to its default contents.
Apply
This button saves the changes made since the last Apply. Changes saved with Apply are not wiped out by Cancel.

Controls for enabling or disabling the JCL warning message

The controls for enabling or disabling a JCL warning message are:

Display warning when generating JCL files from unmodified templates
This check box controls whether the Generate Runtime Code wizard displays the JCL Generation Warning window when you leave page 1 of the wizard (see JCL Generation Warning window):
You can:
  • Select the check box to enable the warning; or
  • Clear the check box to disable the warning.
