The CA Endevor Package Editor allows users to edit Endevor
packages from within Rational® Developer
for System z®.
The
CA Endevor Package Editor user
interface supports a subset of the SCL language to allow users to
edit CA Endevor package files and SCL files, so long as the file contains
valid package commands.
Note: This differs from the CA
Endevor Package RAM, which supports only files with the
.pck extension.
Files containing commands that are not valid
package commands will display a parse error when opened with the
CA
Endevor Package Editor.
When a package is open
in the
CA Endevor Package Editor, that package
is being edited. Changes made to a package in the Endevor repository
through the
CA Endevor Package Editor are saved
directly to the repository.
Note: This differs from opening a CA Endevor
element in the CA Endevor RAM, where the element is opened in Browse,
or Read-only, mode. Changes made to the element are not saved directly
to the repository.
The Package Editor is
divided into three parts, the Command Table,
the Source Preview Panel, and the Command
Controls. It is marked with the Endevor Package Editor
icon,
.
Version Compatibility
If Rational Developer for System z is connected to an 8.0.1 server
or earlier, then you will be unable to edit CA Endevor packages. This
is because CA Endevor packages will not be listed in the CARMA
Repositories view, and there will be no way to open those
packages in the Package Editor.
