Interface FileCharacteristics
public interface FileCharacteristics
The FileCharacteristics interface can be used to obtain
information about the contents of a z/OS file.
A FileCharacteristics instance can be obtained from a
ZOSDataSetMember or ZOSSequentialDataSet using their
getFileCharacteristics methods.

hasBadHex
boolean hasBadHex()
- Returns:
- True if the file contains characters which will not round-trip
correctly between the z/OS host and workstation.
getBadHexChars
String getBadHexChars()
- Returns:
- All of the characters that will not round-trip for the file or ""
if there are none. The bad hex characters are returned as a
series of blank-delimited pairs in the form offset codepoint
For example: "30 x15"
hasSeqNos
boolean hasSeqNos()
- Returns:
- True if the file has sequence numbers
getModLevel
String getModLevel()
- Returns:
- The ISPF modification level of the dataset member or "" if there
is no modification level (e.g. stats are off or this is a
sequential dataset.)
