If you are distributing an product
update to a variety of operating systems, then your response file
must contain only the list of features that are supported in all the
target operating systems. If you are targeting Windows XP and Windows 7 clients, for example, then your
response file should not include the compilers feature because it
is not supported on Windows 7.
Similarly, if you are targeting Windows Vista
and Red Hat Linux clients,
then your response file should not include the compilers, File Manager
Integration, or Fault Analyzer features because they are not supported
on Linux.
During
a push-to-client product update, the user attempting a product installation
receives the following error message on Windows or Linux:
Error: This feature cannot be installed because it is not supported on this operating system.
The
following error message might appear on Linux:
ERROR: os = win32
The push-to-client
update operation is attempting to install a feature that is not supported
on the target operation system.
Edit
the response file and remove the unsupported feature from the
features attribute
of the Rational® Developer
for System z® <offering>
tag.
- Windows example:
- If you are targeting Windows XP and Windows 7 clients, then your response file
should not include the compilers feature because it is not supported
on Windows 7. Remove com.ibm.rdz.compilers from the features attribute
of the <offering> tag.
- Linux example:
- If you are targeting Windows Vista and Red Hat Linux clients, then your response file should
not include the compilers, File Manager Integration, or Fault Analyzer
features because they are not supported on Linux. Remove com.ibm.rdz.compilers, com.ibm.rdz.fa, and com.ibm.rdz.fm from the features attribute
of the <offering> tag.
