The mapping editor allows you to create and modify
mapping routines and mappings.
Mapping routines and mappings enable a flow to retrieve data, perform operations
on data, and store data for use later on (see Working with mapping routines and mappings).
Linked views
In the mapping editor the selection of an item in the Outline view
or in the editor area and the display of properties in the Properties view
are linked.
Editor area
The editor area of the mapping editor has two parts: (a) the mapping
root area across the top of the editor area, which displays the name of
the currently opened mapping file; and (b) the mapping routine area,
which allows you to create and modify mapping routines and mappings.
Outline view
The Outline view of the mapping editor displays a hierarchical
tree containing nodes that correspond to the mapping routines, messages, and
transforms of the currently opened mapping file.
Properties view
The Properties view of the mapping editor displays the properties
of the item that is currently selected in the editor area and in the Outline
view.
