Rational Developer for System z

Step B1. Decide on a target destination for the output files

You can have the Generate Runtime Code wizard copy its generated output files from the default output folder to another destination, which can be either local or remote.
The Generate Runtime Code wizard always creates an original set of output files in a subfolder whose path is determined by the pattern:
<service_flow_project_name>/Generation/<runtime>/<flow_name>
(see Subfolders in which generation properties files and runtime output files are stored).
You can also have the wizard copy the output files to a second destination, which can be either a local destination (another folder in your workspace) or a remote destination (directories and partitioned data sets on a remote z/OS® system) (see Step B6. The File selection page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard and Step B7. The Selection of target locations page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard).
Note: You cannot have the Generate Runtime Code wizard copy its output files to more than one additional destination in the same invocation of the wizard. However, you can do so in separate invocations.

Of course, you can also manually copy the output files to another local or remote destination (see Part F. Manual methods: allocate partitioned data sets (PDS's), create directories, copy files, compile and link COBOL source code, create resource definitions).

The following table summarizes these actions:
Action: Method:
Generation of the original output files: The wizard always stores the original output files in a default subfolder having the path: <service_flow_project_name>/Generation/<runtime>/<flow_name>
Automatic copying of the output files: You can also set options to have the wizard automatically do one of the following:
  • Local copy: Copy the original output files to another subfolder in your workspace; or
  • Remote copy: Copy the original output files to a location on a z/OS system.
Manual copying of the output files: After the wizard has ended, you can of course manually copy the original output files from the default directory in which the wizard created them to any local or remote location, so long as you have access to the location and so long as you have an appropriate program to do the copy.
Note:
  • Copy the WSBind file in binary format.
  • Copy the remaining files in ASCII format.
