File Manager Integration function, which is being deprecated in Developer for System z® v8.0.3, is now provided by IBM® File Manager Plug-in for Eclipse. For information about obtaining IBM File Manager Plug-in for Eclipse, see File Manager Plug-in for Eclipse.
File Manager Integration provides the Formatted Data Editor and Template Editor to IBM Rational® Developer for System z. The Formatted Data Editor provides editing access to sequential data sets, PDS members, and VSAM and QSAM clusters based on a data structure stored within a COBOL copybook, PL/I INCLUDE, or an IBM File Manager template. The Formatted Data Editor takes the data structures available in the copybook, INCLUDE, or template, and applies them to the records of a data set, providing a field, type-sensitive, edit session. The Template Editor rounds out the functionality of File Manager by providing creation and editing abilities for templates based on COBOL copybooks or PL/I includes. The functionality added by File Manager Integration has been made available through an integration effort with IBM File Manager. IBM File Manager provides the data with formatting applied back to Rational Developer for System z File Manager. The Formatted Data Editor and Template Editor are closely based on the editors available in IBM File Manager. In order to use IBM Rational Developer for System z File Manager, it must be selected for installation during the installation of IBM Rational Developer for System z.
