Working with JES jobs

In the JES subsystem of the Remote Systems view or Remote System Details view, you can perform a variety of job actions.

About this task

Jobs are displayed in a tree view or a table view in the name:id format, for example, IBMJOB1:J0017284.
To view jobs in the table view:
  1. Right-click the job filter to open the pop-up menu.
  2. Select Show in Table to display the jobs in the table view.
In the table view, jobs are displayed in a spreadsheet format. Each column represents a job property; to sort a column, click the column heading.
Jobs in the Remote Systems or Remote System Details views are identified by the following icons:
  • Job icon A job that has been run.
  • Active job icon A job that is currently running.
  • Command issued icon A command, such as purge, hold, or cancel, has been issued for the job.
  • File icon A job file, such as a message log or JCL.
You can customize the table view by doing either of the following:
  • To select the columns that you want to display and specify the order of these columns, click the triangle view toolbar button to open the Column Filter wizard.
  • To only view a subset of the jobs that are returned, click the Filter properties button view toolbar button and select Subset to specify filters for each property.
In the JES subsystem, you can:
  • Select a job to display its status in the property sheet. The status line contains the job's state and completion status, if available. To display the job output, double-click the job name in the JES subsystem view.
  • Expand a job to see the data sets that are associated with that job. To display all of the data sets in a single view, double-click the job. If prompted, indicate the number of lines to download.
  • Right-click a job to see all available actions for it.
