Mappings

Mappings allow you to retrieve, manipulate, and store data at various points in a flow when the flow is performed.

A mapping consists of (a) a source element (or elements) from which data is retrieved; (b) a set of operations that is performed on the retrieved data; and (c) a target element (or elements) into which the data resulting from the operations is stored.

Messages serve as the source elements and target elements of mappings (see More about messages in mappings).

A mapping can optionally be made conditional -- performed only if a specified condition resolves to Boolean true at runtime (see Specifying a condition for a mapping).

Mappings are grouped together in mapping routines (see Mapping routines), which are stored in mapping files (see Mapping files).

You create and modify mappings and mapping routines in the mapping editor (see Mapping editor).
