Adding a global element

This topic describes how to add a global element to your message file (also called a message definition file).

To complete the tasks in this topic area, you must have completed the following tasks:

To add a global element to your message model:

  1. Switch to the Enterprise Service Tools perspective.
  2. Ensure that the Outline view is visible in the Enterprise Service Tools perspective of the workbench. If the Outline view is not visible, from the workbench menu, click Window > Show View > Outline.
Note: You can also perform this procedure by selecting the Elements and Attributes folder in the flow message editor.
  3. In the Outline view, right-click the Elements and Attributes folder, then click Add Global Element on the pop-up menu. A simple global element is immediately added to your message model and is assigned a default name.
  4. Either type a new name for the global element or press Enter to accept the default.
    Note:

You can now configure the global element to your requirements. For further information on configuring message model objects see Configuring message model objects.
