Importing a HATS Screen

The Import HATS Screen wizard allows you to create a screen description for a service flow project using the information contained in an existing HATS Screen Capture file (*.hsc). This is a quick way of creating a screen description for a service flow project. HATS is an acronym for the IBM® WebSphere® Host Access Transformation Services product.
For example, if you need 20 screen descriptions for a service flow project, and you have already captured the same 20 screens in a HATS project, then you can quickly create service flow project screen descriptions from the HATS Screen Capture files, without having to open the host application and manually capture each of the 20 application screens.
Restriction: You cannot import a screen capture whose file name contains double-byte characters. You must rename the file.

To import HATS Screen Capture files:

  1. Access the Import HATS Screen wizard using one of the following methods:
    • Right-click over the EST Project Explorer, then click Import HATS Screen.
    • Click File > Import. Select HATS Screen into Service Flow Project and click Next.
The Import HATS Screen wizard opens.
  2. Create a list of HATS Screen Capture files (*.hsc), using the following methods:
    • Click File System to select a HATS Screen Capture file on your workstation's hard disk.
    • Click Workspace to select a HATS Screen Capture file in your workbench's current workspace.
    • Click Remote to select a HATS Screen Capture file on the remote system.
    • Click Remove to delete a HATS Screen Capture file from the list.
After you select a file, the list displays the path of the file. Proceed to the next step after you have completed the list of desired files.
  3. From the Project Name list, select the terminal applications subproject in which you want to create the screen descriptions.

  4. Select Overwrite existing resources without warning if you do not want to be warned when the wizard is about to overwrite existing data in the specified folder.

  5. Click Finish.

For each HATS Screen Capture file, the wizard does the following:

  1. Reads the HATS Screen Capture file (for example, OpIns.hsc).
  2. Extracts the screen capture information.
  3. Uses the screen capture information to create a new screen description (for example, OpIns.sfmxsd), including default screen recognition criteria (number of fields, number of input fields, and a fields checksum).

The screen descriptions are displayed in the Messages folder of the service flow project's terminal application.

Note: The wizard does not preserve in the service flow project screen description all of the information contained in the HATS Screen Capture.
