Deleting objects

This topic describes how to delete objects within a message file (also called a message definition file).

To remove objects contained within a message file:

  1. Switch to the Enterprise Service Tools perspective.

  2. Ensure that the Outline view is visible in the Enterprise Service Tools perspective of the workbench. If the Outline view is not visible, from the workbench menu, click Window > Show View > Outline.

  3. In the Outline view, right-click the object that you wish to remove then click Delete on the pop-up menu. Alternatively right-click the object in the flow message editor Overview tab then click Delete on the pop-up menu.

The type of object and the relationship that it has with other objects determines whether the object is now deleted without a confirmation window appearing, or whether a confirmation window opens with a list of all the objects that will be deleted along with the one that you have selected.

  4. If a confirmation window opens, click OK to delete the objects.
Tip: You can undo a deletion by selecting Edit > Union, as long as you have not saved the changes that you have made.
