Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

z/OS variables

Menu Manager provides z/OS® substitution variables that you can use to gather information from users or from the objects your actions execute on.

The Menu Manager z/OS variables are available when you create a new action that operates on a file. To see available z/OS variables, do these steps:

  1. Create a new file menu or open an existing file menu. See Creating a custom file menu.
  2. Create a new local or remote action or open an existing action. See Creating a simple local file action or Creating a simple remote file action.
  3. Navigate to the Run Options page and click Variables. The Substitution Variables window opens.

  4. Click System z LPEX Editor or MVS Subprojects to see a list of variables you can use. These lists also include variable descriptions. See the related topics for some examples of using substitution variables with Menu Manager actions.
