Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Step B7. The Selection of target locations page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard

On this page of the wizard you can specify an additional location, either local or remote, to which you want the Generate Runtime Code wizard to copy its output files.
This topic contains the following subtopics:

General information

The Selection of target locations page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard is available only if you select the check box Generate to another location on the File selection page of the wizard.

Note: If you want the wizard to copy its output files to a remote z/OS® system then you must create a connection to the z/OS system in the Remote Systems view before you start the Generate Runtime Code wizard (see Step B3. (Optional) Create a connection to the remote z/OS system using the Remote Systems view).
Remember: Besides the local or remote destinations that you select on this page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard, the wizard also always writes the original set of its output files to a default subfolder in the Generation folder of your service flow project (see Step B1. Decide on a target destination for the output files).

For a local destination you can select any subfolder in your workspace. For a remote destination you can select (depending on the type of output file) either a partitioned data set on MVS™ or a directory on z/OS UNIX® System Services.

When you have finished making selections on this page of the wizard, click Finish to have the wizard perform its tasks, or click Next to go to the next page of the wizard.

Copying files to local destinations

Select the radio button Generate to another local project if you want the wizard to copy its output files to a folder or folders in your workspace.

When this button is selected the Systems view pane displays the folders in your current workspace. You can perform useful operations on these folders (such as New, Rename, Delete, and Search) by right-clicking a folder and then selecting an operation from the pop-up menu.

To set a local destination:
  1. Drag a folder from the tree structure in the Systems View pane to the input field for the type of output file (such as Source code) for which you want to set a destination.
  2. The wizard displays the name of the selected destination folder in the input field.

Other methods of setting a local destination:
  • Select a folder in the tree structure, then click the Add button beside the input field for the type of output file (such as Source code) for which you want to set a destination; or
  • Type the path of a folder into the input field for the type of output file for which you want to set a destination.

Copying files to remote destinations

Select the radio button Generate to a remote location if you want the wizard to copy its output files into data sets or directories on a remote z/OS system.

When this button is selected the Systems View pane displays the MVS and z/OS UNIX System Services connections that you have created in the Remote Systems view. You can perform many useful operations on these connections (such as New, Connect, and settings Properties) and on their directories or partitioned data sets (such as New, Copy, and Search) by right-clicking a node and then selecting an operation from the pop-up menu.

NOTE on information relating to z/OS UNIX System Services: The following items on this page of the wizard provide information relating to z/OS UNIX System Services:
  • z/OS UNIX System Services connections in the Systems View pane.

  • The z/OS UNIX locations group on the left side of the page.

These items are not shown on this page of the wizard if both of the following circumstances are true:

  • You are generating output for CICS Service Flow Runtime: Level 1.0 (see CICS® Service Flow Runtime Levels 1.0 and 2.0).

  • You are not generating Web service files (in the generation properties editor, in the Generate Web Service Files list, you selected None).

To set a remote destination:
  • For the files in the z/OS UNIX locations group:
    1. In the z/OS UNIX connection list, select an existing connection (such as system.company.com).
Note: If the list is empty, right-click the z/OS UNIX System Services connection that you want to use in the Systems View pane and then select Connect.
    2. In the Systems View pane, expand the z/OS UNIX System Services connection that you want to use.

    3. Drag a directory from thez/OS UNIX System Services connection in the Systems View pane to the input field for the type of output file (such as SFP file) for which you want to set a destination.

    4. The wizard displays the path of the selected destination directory or partitioned data set in the input field.

Note: Also, for the fields WSBind file and WSDL file if a connection to a CICS Resource Definition server is available then each of these two input fields expands to a list of the WSBind pickup directories that are defined for PIPELINEs in the connected CICS regions (see WSBind file and WSDL file).
  • For files in the MVS locations group:
    1. In the MVS connection list, select an existing connection (such as system.company.com).
Note: If the list is empty, right-click the MVS connection that you want to use in the Systems View pane and then select Connect.
    2. In the Systems View pane, expand the MVS connection that you want to use.

    3. Drag a partitioned data set from the MVS connection in the Systems View pane to the input field for the type of output file (such as Source code) for which you want to set a destination.

  • Other methods for setting a remote destination:
    • Select a directory or partitioned data set in the Systems View pane, then click the Add button beside the input field for the type of output file for which you want to set a destination; or
    • Type the path of a directory or partitioned data set into the input field for the type of output file for which you want to set a destination.

Types of files

The wizard displays only those types of output file that are going to be generated on this run of the wizard (for example, see the WSBind file below).

Note: The types of output files that are going to be generated on this run of the wizard are determined by the selections that you made in the generation properties editor and that are stored in the generation properties file.

For more information about the files described in this subtopic see Files created by the Generate Runtime Code wizard.

The types of output files for which you can specify a copy destination are as follows:
WSBind file

Specify the folder (for a local copy) or the z/OS UNIX System Services directory (for a remote copy) into which you want the Web service BIND file for a Web service to be copied.

WSDL file

Specify the folder (for a local copy) or the z/OS UNIX System Services directory (for a remote copy) into which you want the Web service definition file for a Web service to be copied.

SFP file

Specify the folder (for a local copy) or the z/OS UNIX System Services directory (for a remote copy) into which you want the service flow properties file to be copied (see Service flow properties file).

Source code

Specify the folder (for a local copy) or the MVS partitioned data set (for a remote copy) into which you want the COBOL source file to be copied.

Copy members

Specify the folder (for a local copy) or the MVS partitioned data set (for a remote copy) into which you want the COBOL copy book files to be copied.

JCL

Specify the folder (for a local copy) or the MVS partitioned data set (for a remote copy) into which you want the JCL files to be copied.
