Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Searching the local file system

This is how to search your local file system for a file with a known name or pattern.

If you are going to work with local files, you must first have defined a filter for the local file system. This filter might be mapped to the root of the system or to a specific location in the file system.
  1. Select the local file system you want to search by clicking on the file system on the tree view.
  2. Click to expand "Local". Click again to expand "Local files". Click again to expand "Drives".
  3. You should see your local drive letters. Click the appropriate drive letter to see your local folders and files.
  4. Start the search interface by selecting the Search action in the context menu. The Search window opens with the Search context (start point) filled in. The cursor is positioned at the Search string (leave empty for file search) text field.
  5. If you want to specify a name pattern to search, enter the name pattern in the File name patterns field and select Search.
  6. If the search is successful, the results are displayed. Look through the list of results and select the file you want to see.
  7. Click Open. The file is displayed in the editor.
