Identifying data objects and services (optional)

This is a recommended but optional step.

The data profile contains a data object stereotype that identifies a class as a provider of Data definitions, through its attributes and relationships.

To identify the classes that provide operations (business-level operations) in your system, complete the following steps:

  1. Use the service profile in your model.
  2. Identify the service class now or in a later stage. This will be used to identify the COBOL programs to generate. Figure 1 shows a simple model applying the data profile.

A data object named Order is connected to a data object named Customer. The service specification at the bottom is named OrderServices.
