Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Step A3. Create a generation properties file for each invoked flow

If your program falls within Scenario 2, then for each invoked flow, use the New Generation Properties wizard to create a generation properties file for the invoked flow. (If your program falls within Scenario 1, then you can skip this step.)
Scenario 1 and Scenario 2 refer to the two scenarios described earlier (see Two development scenarios: (1) Main flow; (2) Main flow with invoked flows):

If your program falls within Scenario 2, then you must create a generation properties file for each of the invoked flows, in addition to the generation properties file that you create for the main flow.

For example, if your program includes a main flow OrderProduct and two invoked flows CheckAvail and SubmitOrder, then you must create:

If your program falls within Scenario 2, then you also need to make sure that the generation properties in the generation properties file for the invoked flow have the same values as the generation properties for the same invoked flow in the generation properties file for the main flow (see Requirement for the generation properties of invoked flows).

Tip: An easy way to make the two sets of generation properties have the same values is to set an option in the New Generation Properties wizard that allows you to reuse existing generation properties. You can set this option either when you create the generation properties file for the main flow or when you create the generation properties files for the invoked flows (see Reusing properties from the most recently saved generation properties file).

To create a generation properties file for an invoked flow:

  1. Use the New Generation Properties wizard to create a generation properties file for the invoked flow, following the same steps that you followed to create a generation properties file for the main flow in Step A1 (see Step A1. Create a generation properties file for the main flow).

  2. In addition, on the New File page of the wizard:
    1. In the Flow list box, select the invoked flow for which you are creating a generation properties file.
    2. Select the check box Reuse properties from most recently saved generation properties files if you want the wizard to set the generation properties of the flow node and the invoke nodes in the new generation properties file to the most recently saved values for those nodes (see Reuse properties from the most recently saved generation properties file).
Important: This option makes it easy for you to set the generation properties for the nodes of an invoked flow, residing in the new generation properties file for the invoked flow (such as GPInvoked01.sfgen), to the same values that you have already set for the generation properties of those same nodes residing in the generation properties file for the main flow (GPMain.sfgen)

  3. Also, on the Runtime selection page of the wizard:
    1. Select the same runtime environment that you selected for the main flow. (Remember that invoked flows are not supported in the Host Access Transaction Services (HATS) runtime -- see A flow).
