A database application project allows you easily create a Web-enabled
application that accesses a z/OS® DB2® database. You can then import the new database application
into a service flow project as an response Web service
subproject. This allows you to invoke the new database application from the
service flow project.
The System z® Database Application Generator is an independent component in the IBM® Rational® Developer
for System
z and can be used in various perspectives to create a Web-enabled CICS® application
that accesses a z/OS DB2 database.
You can also create a System z Database Application Generator project
in the Enterprise Service Tools perspective. To create the project:
- Open the New Database Application Project wizard:
- In the EST Project Explorer, right-click anywhere over the main window
area. The contextual menu opens.
- Select . The New Database Application Project wizard
opens.
Note: Alternatively, you can open this wizard by selecting on the main menu of the workbench.
- Use the New Database Application Project wizard to create a System z Database
Application Generator project (see "Creating a Database Application" in the IBM Rational Developer
for System
z online help).
The wizard creates a new System z Database Application Generator project
in the EST Project Explorer. You can then work on the System z Database Application Generator
project using the tools provided by the System z Database Application Generator
(see "Using the Database Application Generator" in the IBM Rational Developer
for System
z online help).
You can then import the new database application into a service flow project.
This allows you to invoke the new database application from the service flow
project as an response Web service (see Integrating a database application project into a service flow project).
