Editing an invoked flow

This topic describes how to edit an invoked flow.

The basic structure of all flows is the same. An invoked flow is not structurally different from the flow that invokes it. Any flow in a service flow project can invoke any other flow in the same service flow project. (However, the flow editor prevents you from creating a situation in which a flow invokes itself -- see Creating an Invoke flow node directly from an existing flow.)

Therefore, one way in which you can open an invoked flow is to open it from the EST Project Explorer with the flow editor, as you would normally open any other flow (see Flow editor).

However, as a convenience, you can also open an invoked flow from the flow editor canvas of the invoking flow, while you are editing the invoking flow in the flow editor. To open an invoked flow from within the flow editor:
  1. On the flow editor canvas, right-click the Invoke flow node (Invoke flow node).
  2. Click Open Subflow.

The result is exactly the same as if you had opened the invoked flow from the EST Project Explorer: the service flow project tools start a new instance of the flow editor and opens the invoked flow inside the new instance of the flow editor.
