Opening an existing message file

This task topic describes how to open an existing message file (also called a message definition file) in the flow message editor so that you can view and edit its contents.

To open an existing message file (message definition file):

  1. In the EST Project Explorer view, right-click the message file (file extension *.msxd) that you want to open, then click Open With > Flow message editor on the pop-up menu. This starts the flow message editor for the message file that you have specified.
Tip: The Eclipse framework lets you open resource files with other editors. You are advised to only use the workbench flow message editor to work with message files because this editor correctly validates changes made to the message files. Other editors might not do this.
  2. View or edit the data in the file as required.
