Using point-and-click to modify a Field property

To modify a Field property of an action in the screen operations editor, click a field in the screen image that is displayed in the Actions tab. This feature is available only when you are modifying an action in a screen operations file using the screen operations editor.

The Field property identifies a field in the application screen that an action is supposed to affect. For example, in the Input action, the Field property identifies the field into which the input text is to be typed.

To set the value of the Field property, you can use the following quick and easy method:

  1. Verify that the screen operations editor is open and that the Actions tab is selected.

  2. In the Outline view, select the action that you want to modify.

Tip: If the Outline view is not visible, see Opening or reopening a view.
  3. Move the mouse pointer over the screen image displayed in the Actions tab. As the mouse pointer moves over each field in the screen image, the screen operations editor displays the field's default name (such as Field901).

  4. Click the field whose identifier you want to use in the Field property. A red marking rectangle appears around the field, and the identifier for the selected field (for example, OperatorIn_1ns:Field901) is written into the Field property

Note:

To select some other field, use either of the following methods:
