Using point-and-click to modify Row and Column properties

To modify the Row and Column properties of an action in the screen operations editor, select a character position in the screen image displayed in the Actions tab.

The Row and Column properties specify a row and column location that is used by an action. In the AID Key action, the Row and Column properties identify the location of the text cursor.

The Row and Column values are 1-based. That is, the row and column values of the first character in an application screen (top left corner) are Row 1, Column 1.

To set the values of the Row and Column properties, you can use the following quick and easy method:
  1. Verify that the screen operations editor is open and that the Actions tab is selected.
  2. In the Outline view, select the action that you want to modify.
    Tip: If the Outline view is not visible, see Opening or reopening a view.
  3. Click the mouse on a character position in the screen image displayed in the Actions tab. A green marking rectangle appears at the character position, and the row and column values are written into the Row and Column properties (for example, 33 and 12).
Note: To select some other field, use either of the following methods:
  • Drag:
    1. Drag the green marking rectangle around the screen image using the mouse.
    2. Drag the green marking rectangle over the character position that you want to select.
  • Reset and select:
    1. Click the mouse once to remove the green marking rectangle.
    2. Click the mouse again to make the red marking rectangle re-appear.
