Creating a one-to-one mapping in two steps

Another way to create a one-to-one mapping is in the following two steps: (a) first create a new transform with a source element; and (b) then create a connection from the transform to a target element.

The resulting one-to-one mapping is the same as a one-to-one mapping that you create by creating a connection between a source element and a target element (see Creating a one-to-one mapping).

To create a one-to-one mapping using these two steps:

  1. First, create a new transform with a source element connected to it:

    1. Select a source element (see Source elements, target elements).

    2. On the toolbar of the mapping routine area, click Create a New Transform Create a New Transform.

The mapping editor creates a new transform, sets it to the appropriate default transform type, and connects the selected source element to the new transform (see Default transform type).

    Equivalent method for this step:
You can also create a new transform with a source element using the contextual menu:
    1. In the mapping routine area, right-click a source element.

    2. Select Create Transform.

The mapping editor creates the new transform in the same way that it does when you click the Create a New Transform Create a New Transform icon on the mapping routine toolbar.

  2. Second, create a connection from the transform to the target element. See the steps described in Part 2: How to create a connection and see A connection from a transform to a target element.
