The advanced allocate wizard provides the ability to allocate
new data sets for use within File Manager Integration.
With the allocate data set wizard, you can perform the following
tasks:
- Allocate a new data set.
- Allocate a new data set with information from an existing data
set.
- Generate data for the new data set from a template.
Launch the advanced allocate wizard by:
- Select a host resource from the Remote Systems view and right
click to display the pop-up menu.
- Select File Manager then Advanced
Allocate.
- On the first page of the wizard, titled Allocate Target:
- Define the Target data set that you would
like to allocate.
- If you would like an existing data set to be used as the model
for your new data set, define that in the Like data set field.
- Select a Library type from the drop-down
list for the new data set.
Note: Based on the selection made here,
additional fields will be made available to further customize the
allocation
- Click Finish to complete the wizard, or Next if
you would like to generate data for the data set based on a template.
- On the second page of the wizard, titled Map Template:
- Place a check mark next to Generate Data to
continue with the wizard.
- Define the number or records that you would
like created.
- If you would like to use fill characters, select the type from
the drop-down list, then enter the pattern to be used in the text
box.
- If you would like the data generated to be based on a template,
place a check mark next to Use Templates.
- Define the template to be used.
- Select Finish to exit the wizard and allocate
the data set.
