The Database Application Project wizard guides you through the creation of a new project. The project will contain the UML models and transforms for tables that were selected from a database.
The New Project wizard performs the following tasks:
- Generates the UML for the selected tables.
- Generates the transformation parameters file, which automatically opens in the Transformation Parameters Editor.
The new project is viewable in any perspective that uses the Project Explorer view, such as Enterprise Service Tools. The database connection information is stored in the workspace.
Attention: Before you create the Database Application Generator Project, it is recommended that you create a z/OS® system connection in the Remote System Explorer and establish the connection. Otherwise, you might not be able to enter values in some of the Transformation Parameters Editor fields.
To create a new Database Application Generator project, complete the following steps:
- Click .
You can also use the Ctrl+N key combination.
- Expand the z/OS category.
- Select Database Application Project.
- Click Next.
- In the New Database Application Project panel, complete the following steps:
- Specify the Name of the new project.
- Specify the Location of the project. You can also use the default location.
- Click Next to continue.
- In the Specify Database Connection Information panel, you can create a new database connection or use a previously created DB2® or z/OS connection that exists in the workspace.
- Select Create a new connection or Use an existing connection.
For an existing connection, the properties are displayed.
- Click Next to continue.
For an existing connection, you might be prompted to enter a password.
Note: You can access a v9.x database using the v8 connection option.
- For an existing connection, skip to the next step to select tables.
For a new connection, the
Connection Parameters panel enables you to set the following parameters:
- Use default naming convention
- The connection name is taken from the value in the Location box. Clear this check box if you want to specify the connection name.

- Select a database manager
- Select the applicable version from the list.
- User ID
