Creating a host connection

You can create a host connection for a new service flow project or for an existing service flow project.

Part 1: Creating a host connection for a new service flow project

You can create one or more host connections at the same time that you are creating a new service flow project (see Creating a service flow project).

Part 2: Creating a host connection for an existing service flow project

To add a new host connection to an existing service flow project:
  1. Start the New Host Connection wizard:
    1. In the service flow project to which you want to add the host connection, right-click one of the following items:
      • The name of the service flow project.
      • Any location in any terminal applications subproject.
    2. Click New Host Connection. The New Host Connection wizard opens.
Note: Alternatively, you can open this wizard by selecting File > New > Host Connection on the main menu of the workbench.
  2. On the first page of the New Host Connection wizard, specify the following values:
    • The name of the file in which you want to store the properties for this new host connection.
Restriction: This value cannot contain double-byte characters.
    • The description that you want to appear when you pass the mouse pointer icon over the name of this host connection file as it is displayed in the Hosts subfolder of the specified terminal applications subproject.
    • The terminal applications subproject in which you want the new host connection file to be created.
    See Destination settings.
  3. Click Next.

  4. On the second page of the wizard, specify the basic settings:
  5. Indicate whether you want to finish creating the host connection now or whether you want to specify advanced settings or security settings for the host connection.
    • Click Finish if you want to finish creating the host connection now. Skip to the last step of these instructions.
    • Click Next if you want to specify advanced settings or security settings for the host connection.
  6. On the third page of the wizard, specify the advanced settings.
  7. Indicate whether you want to finish creating the host connection now or whether you want to specify security settings for the host connection.
    • Click Finish if you want to finish creating the host connection now. Skip to the last step of these instructions.
    • Click Next if you want to specify security settings for the host connection.
  8. On the fourth page of the wizard, specify security settings.

  9. Click Finish to create the host connection.

The wizard closes and the new host connection is created.

In the EST Project Explorer, the new host connection is displayed in the Hosts folder of the terminal applications subproject that you specified on the first page of the wizard.
