The screen operations editor is the default editor provided by
the Enterprise Service Tools perspective for editing screen operations files
(scopScreenOps.wsdl).
The editor is started in the editor area when you create a new screen
operations file or when you open an existing screen operations file in the
EST Project Explorer.
Screen operations editor views
The screen operations
editor has the following views:
- EST Project Explorer view
- The EST Project Explorer view shows a hierarchical view of all the resources
that are currently in your workspace. The following table shows which folders
in the EST Project Explorer contain artifacts that are created or used by
the screen operations editor:

- Editor area
- The editor area has two tabs:
- The Actions tab of the screen operations
editor displays an image of the application screen
that is associated with a selected item in the Outline view (see Actions tab).
- The Source tab allows you to modify the XML text
that specifies the screen operations file. See Source tab
- Outline view
The screen operations editor uses the Outline view to display the
contents of the screen operations file in a tree format. Each screen operation
is displayed as a node of the tree. Each screen operation contains a Screen
Interactions subnode and a Next Screens subnode.
Each Screen Interactions
subnode contains zero or more screen interactions, with the default names
Interaction 0, Interaction 1, Interaction 2, and so on. Each screen interaction
contains one or more actions.
Each Next Screens subnode contains a list
of zero or more screen descriptions.
You can access all features of
the screen operations editor by right-clicking an item in the Outline view
and then selecting a menu entry from a popup menu.
- Modify Next Screens window
- The Modify Next Screens window allows you to add screen descriptions from
the Available Screen Descriptions list to the Next Screen Descriptions list
or to remove screen descriptions from the Next Screen Descriptions list to
the Available Screen Descriptions list.
You open this window by right-clicking
the Next Screens tag of a screen interaction in the
Outline view and then selecting Modify Next Screens.
- Properties view
- The Properties view displays the properties of actions and screen interactions
that you have selected in the Outline view.
You can change the value of
a property by clicking the property in the Properties view.
