Step B6. The File selection page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard

On this page of the wizard you provide primary information.
Follow these steps:
  1. In the File name field, specify the generation properties file from which you want the Generate Runtime Code wizard to generate output.
    • If you started the wizard from within a generation properties file or after right-clicking a generation properties file, then this field is already filled out with the name of the generation properties file that you selected.
    • If you started the wizard after right-clicking some file or folder other than a generation properties file, then type or select the name of the generation properties file.
Note: You do not have to specify the name of a flow file, because the generation properties file references the flow file for which it was created.

  2. In the Generation target group:

  3. In the Job Control information group:
The Generate Runtime wizard uses the values that you specify in the fields of this group to replace certain variables in the JCL templates (see Step B2. (Recommended) Customize the JCL templates):
Field in the Job Control information group: Corresponding placeholder term in the JCL files:
Job Control User ID field %MAT_UID%
    Job Control account field %MAT_ACCOUNT%
    Deployment libraries HLQ field %MAT_HLQ%
For example, the following default line in the compile JCL template contains the variable %MAT_HLQ%:
    LINK='%MAT_HLQ%.USER.LINKLIB'
If you specify a value in the Deployment libraries HLQ field (such as PRJ1FLO3.CA1) then when the wizard creates the compile JCL file, the wizard replaces the variable contained in the template with the actual value that you specified. The revised line reads as follows:
    LINK='PRJ1FLO3.CA1.USER.LINKLIB'

In contrast, if you do not specify a value in one of the fields in the Job Control information group, then the wizard does not replace the variable and the variable still is present in the generated JCL file. Thus, in the example above, if you do not specify a value in the Deployment libraries HLQ field, then the generated JCL file contains the default line (containing %MAT_HLQ%) rather than the revised line (containing PRJ1FLO3.CA1).

Important: If the variable is not replaced in the generated JCL file, then before you submit the JCL file to MVS™, you should manually edit the file to replace the variable with an actual value.
    Job Control User ID
Type the user ID that you want to be used in the JCL files. This value is substituted for the variable %MAT_UID% in the generated JCL files.
    Job Control account
Type the account identifer that you want to be used in the JCL files. This value is substituted for the variable %MAT_ACCOUNT% in the generated JCL files.
    Deployment libraries HLQ
Type the high level qualifier that you want the wizard to use in the JCL template for the compile JCL. This value is substituted for the variable %MAT_HLQ% in the generated JCL file. Table 1 shows an example of this substitution:
    Table 1. Substitution for %MAT_HLQ%
    Description: Text:
An example line from the JCL template DFHMAXCJ: COPY1='%MAT_HLQ%.USER.COPYLIB'
An example high-level qualifier that you type into the field Deployment libraries HLQ on the File selection page of the Generate Runtime Code wizard: SFP001
The resulting line in the compile JCL created by the wizard: COPY1='SFP001.USER.COPYLIB'
    Create resource definitions JCL
Select this check box if you want the Generate Runtime Code wizard to generate a JCL file to create CICS® resource definitions for the generated runtime program.
Note: You can select this check box even if you have selected the check box Have SFR manage creation of Program, Transaction, and ProcessType resource definitions in the Service Flow Systems Management group (see step 4 of this topic). The reason is that you might want to look at the contents of the generated JCL file, even though you do not plan to submit it.
    Create compile JCL
Select this check box if you want the Generate Runtime Code wizard to create a JCL file to compile the generated COBOL source file and the COBOL copy book files.
  4. In the Service Flow Systems Management group:
Have SFR manage creation of Program, Transaction, and ProcessType resource definitions
Select this check box if you want the CICS Service Flow Runtime to create resource definitions using EXEC CICS CREATE commands.
    Note:

You can use this option when you are developing or testing a flow, as a quicker and easier method of defining resources to CICS.

However, note that the resource definitions created by this method are not permanent and that no CICS CSD file definitions are made for these resource definitions.

When the flow is working correctly, or when you are working in a production environment, then you should use the normal method for creating resource definitions:
    1. Create a resource definition JCL file (see the check box Create resource definitions JCL in step 3 of this topic); and
    2. Submit the JCL file to CICS (see the check box Submit resource definition JCL on the Compilation and Installation Options page of the wizard).

See Have the Service Flow Runtime manage resource definition creation.

  5. The next step depends on whether you selected the check box Generate to another location in step 2 of this topic:
    • If you did not select the check box, then click Finish to have the wizard generate the output files and terminate.
    • If you did select the check box, then click Next to go to the next page.

  6. JCL Generation Warning window:

If you have not customized the JCL templates (see Step B2. (Recommended) Customize the JCL templates) and you selected either of the following check boxes on this page of the wizard:
    • Create resource definitions JCL
    • Create compile JCL

    then

    1. The wizard displays the JCL Generation Warning window with a message warning that you have not customized the JCL templates.
Note: You can disable this warning message by clearing the check box Display warning when generating JCL files from unmodified templates on the JCL Templates page of the Enterprise Service Tools preferences (see Controls for enabling or disabling the JCL warning message).
    2. Click OK to close this window.

    3. The wizard returns to its work and generates the output files in the usual way.
