You can use the BMS Assign Field Names wizard to add BMS information from a BMS map to an existing screen message that was originally created by capturing the same application screen in the host editor.
If you have a screen message that you have created by capturing a screen in the host editor (see Creating a screen message) and you have a BMS map of the same application screen, then you can use the BMS Assign Field Name wizard to add the BMS information to the screen message.
The resulting screen message is functionally equivalent to a screen message that was originally created from a BMS map.
To add the BMS information from a BMS map to an existing screen message:
- Open the screen message with the screen message editor (see Opening a screen message).
- Click anywhere in the editor area to make the editor area the active window.
- From the toolbar of the workbench select . The BMS Assign Field Name wizard opens.
Note: When the host editor is open, you can also start the same wizard by selecting the Assign BMS Field Names icon on the tool bar of the host editor.
- On the first page of the Assign BMS Field Names wizard, titled File Chooser:
- Use the Browse button to select a BMS file either from a directory in the file system or from a folder in your workspace.
- Expand the list box Screen Size and select a screen size.
- Click Next.
- On the second page of the wizard, titled Map Selection:
- Select the BMS map that you want to use.
- Click Next.
- On the third page of the wizard, titled Field Confirmation, the wizard displays the current field names for the screen message that you opened in the screen message editor, and also displays the corresponding BMS field names from the BMS map that are to replace the current field names.
- Verify that the BMS map that you selected contains the fields that you want to use.
- Click Finish.
The wizard adds the BMS information from the BMS map file to the existing screen message. The resulting screen message is functionally equivalent to a screen message that was originally created from a BMS map.
