Rational Developer for System z

Compare With

This function compares a local file with the latest version stored in SCLM. To compare files, select the file you want to compare, right click and select Compare With -> Latest From SCLM.

A comparison dialog is displayed that allows you to concurrently view the source from the IDE file and the source as it is stored in SCLM. Using this function you can determine the difference between files. The contents of each file can be copied from the SCLM source to the IDE source. The arrow operators show the data operation between the two source members. The first arrow allows you to copy all non-conflicting changes. The second arrow copies the current changes from right to left (SCLM to IDE). The down arrow highlights the next change item. The up arrow highlights the previous change item.

To Compare files in the SCLM view, you must populate the view in Explorer mode so that the required files are shown in the different groups they reside in. Select the two files you want to compare using the CTRL key + left mouse click, right click and select Show Differences. The same comparison dialog, utilizing the Eclipse compare utility, described above, is displayed.
