Rational Developer for System z

Edit / Check out

To edit SCLM members listed in the SCLM View, select the member or group of members you want to edit, right click and select Edit / Check out.

You will be prompted to enter an Authorization Code for the members. If you are not sure whether an authorization code is needed to edit this member, clicking the Retrieve button next to the field will provide you with the authorization code. If no Authorization Code is needed to edit this member, click Ok.

You can also enter a change code to be used when editing this member. SCLM Developer Toolkit can be configured to enforce the requirement of a change code. If this feature is enabled and an attempt is made to check out a file without entering a change code, the operation fails and an error dialog is displayed. A change code must be entered or the member cannot be checked out SCLM. Additionally if your site has change code userexits in place then these will be invoked prior to a successful checkout. If the checkout fails check the log for any messages that may have been issued by a change code exit.

The Edit / Check out function allows you to edit SCLM members listed in the SCLM View. Edit / Check Out places a lock on the SCLM member and copies the contents into an Eclipse editor. The file can now be locally edited and saved back to SCLM using the Check In function.

If you want to close the file and edit it later the file can be restored using the Continue Editing function. This opens the file created when using the remote edit operation and display it in the configured editor.
