This topic describes how to add a local attribute, a wildcard
attribute, or an attribute reference to a message or a type.
Adding a local attribute
To add a new local
attribute to a message or a type:
- In the Advanced tab, right-click the item
to which you want to add a new local attribute.
- Click Add Local Attribute. The flow message
editor does the following:
- It adds a new local attribute with a default name to the beginning
of the message or type.
- It automatically updates any related structures in other folders
to include the new local attribute.
- It scrolls to display the new local attribute in the Types folder.
- It highlights the new local attribute and makes it an input field.
- In the input field, type the name that you want to use for the
new local attribute, or press the Enter key to use the default name.
Adding a wildcard attribute
To add a new
wildcard attribute to a message or type:
- In the Advanced tab, right-click the item
to which you want to add a new wildcard attribute.
- Click Add Wildcard Attribute. The flow
message editor does the following:
- It adds a new wildcard attribute to the beginning of the message
or type.
- It automatically updates any related structures in other folders
to include the new wildcard attribute.
- It scrolls to display the new wildcard attribute in the Types folder.
- It highlights the new wildcard attribute.
Adding an attribute reference
An attribute
reference is a reference to an existing global attribute defined in
the Elements and Attributes folder.
To
add a new attribute reference to a message or a type:
- In the Advanced tab, right-click the item
to which you want to add a new attribute reference.
- Click Add Attribute Reference. The flow
message editor does the following:
- It adds a new attribute reference to the beginning of the message
or type.
- It automatically updates any related structures in other folders
to include the new attribute reference.
- It scrolls to display the new attribute reference in the Types folder.
- It highlights the new attribute reference and makes it a list
box.
- In the list box, select the global attribute to which you want
the attribute reference to refer.
