Rational Developer for System z

Joining a new team and importing SCLM project files into your workstation

Joining a new team and importing SCLM project files onto your workstation involves the migration of SCLM files into the project. You must first create an Eclipse IDE project in the Package Explorer or Navigator view and associate an SCLM project with the Eclipse project you created. This process has been described in Mapping Eclipse projects to SCLM.

To import the SCLM project files to your workstation, do the following:
  1. Select the project, right click and select Team->Import SCLM Project.

The SCLM Project Filters page is displayed.

  2. Use this page to specify the appropriate filters to display the members you want to import into your project.
  3. Alternatively, you can specify an Archdef file. To obtain a list of available Archdef files, click Retrieve. This invokes the file filter dialog. Specify Type = ARCHDEF and Language and Member Filters values of “*”, to display a list of the Archdefs. Select the appropriate archdef file to populate the dialog.
  4. Click OK to copy the files to the Eclipse project. If any files exist with the same name you will be prompted to overwrite those files. The behavior of Rational® Developer for System z® can be adversely affected by the changing of system files such as .project and .classpath. Be careful when modifying these files. One way of changing these safely is to import the SCLM project into the SCLM Explorer Mode, invoke the Show Long Name and browse those files. You can then cut and paste their contents into the IDE files.
