The SCLM Views provide a direct view of the SCLM hierarchy and do not include the Eclipse workbench functionality of the Eclipse Project Explorer or Navigator views. The SCLM Views and the SCLM functions available in them are designed for traditional host development activities such as COBOL or PL/I development. The SCLM View provides two modes for you to work in, the SCLM Explorer Mode and the SCLM Developer Mode.
The Explorer Mode and Developer Mode operate similarly in that they provide remote access to SCLM and provide a view of the SCLM projects and member listings. They are two different modes in that the Explorer Mode is designed to facilitate SCLM browsing or exploration, while the Developer Mode provides a more developer-centric view of SCLM member listings. The Developer Mode is designed to facilitate host-based development. In this way, a Java/COBOL (host) development scenario can be supported through a single project. Since this plug-in is Eclipse-based, additional tools provided with Rational® Developer for System z® can extend the development services available to you.
The Developer Mode and Explorer Mode are similar except in the way project members are listed. Refer to the Switch View Mode for information about switching between the SCLM Developer Mode and SCLM Explorer Mode. Also note that the Preference Page contains configuration settings for these views. The SCLM Member View provides similar functionality, but with a flat view of members in the project.
The SCLM Repository View shows a list of project filters. Each filter can be selected at which time the developer, explorer and member views will update to reflect the content of that particular filter.
The SCLM Modes are independent of the Package Explorer view. Saving the view contents is a configurable parameter, but to remain consistent with the host side, a refresh for each session is recommended. The empty view contains only the high-level qualifier SCLM....
