This topic describes how to use the Create Template wizard
to create a dynamic template.
A connection to a z/OS® system
must first be established in the Remote System Explorer view of Rational® Developer for System z®.
Dynamic templates can be generated without the use of any
source code to derive a record layout. They can also be based on the
record layout of an existing template. Refer to the following procedure
to create a dynamic template.
- Launch the Create Template wizard from either the File
menu or from the pop-up menu.
- The Create Template wizard opens.
- In the field labeled Data Set,
select the Browse button and navigate to the
data set where you want to save the new template.
- In the field labeled Template,
enter a file name for your new template.
- Place a bullet next to the Dynamic template template
type.
- If you would like to generate a dynamic template without
the use of any source files, Click Finish to
save your template and exit the wizard. To define an existing layout
to base your dynamic template on, click Next to
continue with the wizard.
- In the field labeled Template,
select the Browse button to identify an existing
template to base your dynamic template on.
- If you have selected a template that contains more than
one record layout, identify the record layout you want to use from
the Layout drop-down menu.
- Select Finish to save the new template and exit
the wizard.
The new dynamic template will be saved to the data set
that you specified and your new template will open in the Template
Editor automatically.
