Configuring physical properties

This topic describes how to configure the physical properties for a message model object.

The tasks in this topic area assume that you have added one or more physical formats to a message set (see Adding a physical format.

When you have added objects to your message model it is likely that you will want to configure the physical properties of these objects. The following task relate to configuring the physical properties of message model objects:

  1. Switch to the Enterprise Service Tools perspective.

  2. Ensure that the Outline view is visible in the Enterprise Service Tools perspective of the workbench and is displaying the following information:
    • The name of the message file (also called a message definition file)
    • Messages
    • Types
    • Groups
    • Elements and Attributes

If the Outline view is not visible, from the workbench menu, click Window > Show View > Outline. If the information listed above is not displayed, ensure that the message file is open in the flow message editor. Message files have an .sfmxsd file extension.

The object type (for example, Local Element or Global Element) of the message model object that you selected in the Outline view is displayed under each physical format shown.

  5. Under Physical Properties, click the object type for the message model object that you have chosen to configure under the physical format. The properties of your selected message model object appear in the Details view.

  6. Configure the properties of the selected object to your requirements by making the appropriate changes to the information shown in the Details view.
Note: It is not possible to configure disabled fields.
  7. Save your changes by clicking File > Save message_definition_file.sfmxsd from the menu or pressing Ctrl+S. Alternatively, from the menu, click File > Save All or press Ctrl+Shift+S.
