Adding a physical format

This task topic describes how to add a physical format layer to a message set using the flow message set editor.

To add a physical format layer to a message set:

  1. Open the Enterprise Service Tools perspective.

  2. From the workbench menu bar, select Window > Open Perspective > Enterprise Service Tools.

  3. In the flow message set editor, in the Properties Hierarchy, open the Add Format window by right-clicking Physical properties.

  4. Select the format. The options are as follows:
    • Custom Wire Format
    • XML Wire Format
    • Tagged/Delimited String (TDS) Format
    • DBCS Model
    • Bidi Model
    • BMS Terminal Model
    • CICSAdapter Terminal Model
    • Terminal Model
  5. In the Add Format window, specify the name that you want to use for the new physical format.
Tip: Physical format names must be unique across a message set. It is recommended that you start the name of your new physical format with a identifier specific to the format type (for example, CWF) as this clearly identifies the type of the physical format that you are adding.
  6. Click OK to add the physical format layer to the message set. Alternatively, if you decide to cancel the process, click Cancel or press Esc on the keyboard.
Tip: The new physical format layer is added with the relevant default property values. You can configure the message set properties according to your requirements, using the appropriate editor.
  7. Save your changes either by clicking FileSave messageSet.sfmset for by pressing Ctrl+S.
