Basic installation

IBM XL C/C++ for Linux provides an interactive utility, xlc_install, that walks you through a basic installation. Installation of IBM XL C/C++ for Linux using xlc_install is considered basic provided that one of the following conditions are met:

The xlc_install utility will ask you to accept or decline the license agreement. If you accept the agreement, the license files will be output to .txt files for your future reference. If you decline the agreement, the installation process will exit without installing the compiler and no files will be written to your machine.

You should consider using basic installation of IBM XL C/C++ for Linux, V11.1 with xlc_install utility on a system as long as both of the following conditions apply: If either of these conditions does not apply, do not use the xlc_install utility. Instead, use the procedures in Advanced installation.
