Working with Rational Team Concert (RTC)

You can work with your C or C ++ project on Rational Team Concert (RTC) on a mounted drive or as a local project with push synchronization using IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software.

Creating a new remote C/C++ project and share on RTC

  1. Launch the Remote C/C++ Project wizard. See Creating a Remote C/C++ Project.
  2. You will need to associate a local location with your project in order for Rational Team Concert to be able to operate on your project files. Advanced Remote Project Options
  3. Configure the build options to create the project.

The newly created project will appear in the Project Explorer view. It can now be shared on RTC.

Converting a local project in the workspace for remote development

When a project from RTC is loaded into the workspace, it is initially loaded as a purely local project. In order for the project to function properly, the project must be configured for remote development. The following dialog will open and you will be prompted to convert the project to a remote project.

Convert Project Wizard Prompt Dialog

If you want to enable the project for remote development using Rational Developer for Power Systems Software then you should answer "Yes" to the above dialog. If you decide not to convert the project right away, you may launch the Convert To A Remote Project Wizard at a later time.

To launch the Convert To A Remote Project Wizard, select the project for conversion in the Project Explorer. Invoke the context menu on the project and then select Convert To Remote Project to launch the wizard.

After invoking the Convert Project To Remote Bridged Filesystem Wizard, or selecting "Yes" from the project conversion dialog, the wizard will open:

Convert Project Wizard

  1. Select one or more projects to be converted. The recently loaded project (or the one chosen at the time the wizard was launched) may already be selected, however this area allows for bulk project conversion should there be several projects that need converting.

  2. Configure the Remote Synchronization Options by selecting a remote location to associate with the each existing local project you wish to convert, and configuring the synchronization options.

  3. Click Finish. The selected project(s) will be converted for remote development.
