WebSphere Project Facets

Two types of WebSphere® project facets appear on the Select Project Facets page: the Extended facet and the Co-existent facet.

Before you begin

Two types of WebSphere project facets appear on the Select Project Facets page:
  1. Extended facet: applies to applications that use WebSphere-specific functionality that is not covered in the J2EE standards and therefore cannot be deployed to other servers.
  2. Co-existent facet applies to applications that deploy to other servers.

About this task

Depending upon the type of project you are creating, EJB, Applications, or Web project, the facet appears as follows:

Enterprise JavaBean project
  • WebSphere EJB (Extended) facet
Enterprise Application project

Web Project
  • WebSphere Web (Extended) facet
  • WebSphere Web (Co-existent) facet

When you select the WebSphere (Extended) facet, the following functions are available (these are not available when the WebSphere (Co-existent) facet is applied):
