IBM®InfoSphere®Optim™ Query
Workload Tuner for DB2® for z/OS® provides tools for improving
the performance of query workloads.
For a list of scenarios in which query-workload tuning can
be helpful and steps that you can follow for each scenario, see Scenarios for tuning query workloads.
Preparing for tuning
Before tuning query workloads, ensure that you have the
right authorities and privileges, that the full set of tuning features
is activated on your data server, that global default values are set
to the values that you want, and that other important default values
are set.
Virtually testing the acceleration of SQL statements
You can perform virtual tests that are based on the recommendations of the Workload
Analytics Acceleration Advisor, and virtual tests to help you determine which tables you can remove
from an accelerator.
Consolidating EXPLAIN information
You can consolidate EXPLAIN information for a query workload
to reduce the amount of storage that information requires.
