You use IBM® Rational® Application Developer
for WebSphere® Software to
build an MFS-based IMS™ service
to accesses IMS MFS functionality
over the Internet.
Before you begin
Prerequisites:You must perform the following
steps before you can build an MFS-based IMS service:
- Validate that your MFS-based application exists and functions
correctly on a host system before you import the MFS source into the
workbench.
Tip: If the MFS source is not available, you
can create it again from the MFS Format libraries by running the IBM IMS Message
Format Services Reversal Utility. For more information, see the IMS Message Format Services Reversal
Utilities for z/OS® User's Guide,
SC27-0823.
- Download the source files onto your workstation or LAN server
that Rational Application
Developer (Rational Application Developer) can
access. You can download MFS source files in either binary or text
format.
- Ask your IMS system programmer
for the following information about the MFS-based IMS service that you plan to deploy:
- Input MID name and multiple possible MOD names
- Logical page number of the MID to use for input
- Device type and feature for the device profile you want to use
- File name of the device characteristics table (DCT), if needed
- RACF® security information
that is required to run the transaction, if needed
- Ask your IMS Connect Administrator
for the host name, port number, and datastore name of the IMS installation
