Step 6: Install the PhoneBook Enterprise Archive file

Installing the enterprise archive (EAR) file is the equivalent of installing an application.

Before you begin

If you tested the PhoneBook application while working in IBM® Rational® Application Developer for WebSphere® Software, you will not need to install the Phonebook EAR file (SimplePhonebook.ear) in IBM WebSphere Application Server.

About this task

To verify or install the EAR file, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. To verify that the Phonebook EAR file is installed, from the Administrative console, expand Applications and click Enterprise applications. Verify that the Phonebook EAR file is installed. If the Phonebook EAR file name is listed, there is no need to reinstall the Phonebook EAR file.
    Tip: If you have the Phonebook EAR file installed, you do not need to perform the rest of this task.
  2. If you need to install the enterprise archive file, from the Administrative console, expand Applications and click Install New Application. The Prepare for the application installation page appears in the workspace.
  3. Click Browse and select the Phonebook EAR file. Click Open and then click Next.
  4. In the Preparing for the application installation page, accept the defaults and click Next. The Step 1 Select installation options page opens.
  5. Accept all other defaults and click Next. The Step 2: Map modules to servers page opens.
  6. Accept the defaults and click Next. The Step 3: Summary page opens.
  7. Accept all the defaults and Click Next.
  8. Click Save to save your changes.
