Use the Migrate Data wizard to migrate
data from one table to another in DB2® for Linux, UNIX, and Windows databases.
Before you begin
The Database Administration feature must be installed and
a connection must exist for the database that you want to migrate
data to.
Procedure
- Display any objects in the database that you want to migrate
data to in the Object List.
- In the Administration Explorer view,
find and expand the database.
- Click any data object type folder, such as the Tables folder. The objects are displayed in the Object List.
- Click anywhere in the Object List to
make the view active.
- Right-click the database and then click to start the Migrate Data wizard.
- Complete the steps in the wizard. The wizard
guides you through specifying the following information:
- The source connection for the data.
You must identify a connection
for the database that you want to migrate the data from. You can select
an existing connection or create a new one.
- The source and target table pairs from which to unload and reload
data.
You must identify the pairs of tables from which to save data
and into which to load the saved data. You can select the source and
target schema to map multiple tables at once, or use the Add
New Entry icon to add tables one at a time.
The Review and Deploy dialog opens.
- Review the generated commands in the Review and
Deploy dialog.
- Ensure that the Generate undo commands and Save
data check boxes are selected.
- Specify a directory into which to save the data. If the
target and source databases are not on the same system, you must specify
a location on a shared file system.
- Optional: Click Column Mapping to
change how the data from the unloaded columns is mapped to the columns
that are being reloaded. A dialog opens where you
can change the unloaded to reloaded column mapping for each table.
- Specify a deployment option and then click Finish to
deploy the changes to the database.
Results
New rows are added to the target tables. The status of
running the commands is displayed in the SQL Results view.
