Installing IBM InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner, Version 4.1.1

Installing IBM®InfoSphere®Optim™ Query Workload Tuner, Version 4.1.1 installs two components on your workstation: IBM Data Studio client, Version 4.1.1 and a license activation kit for InfoSphereOptim Query Workload Tuner, Version 4.1.1.

Product components

This section describes the two product components that you can install.

IBM Data Studio client, Version 4.1.1
IBM Data Studio provides an integrated development environment for robust database application development and database management for database servers. You use this client for your tuning tasks. You can do a limited set of no-charge tuning tasks, or you can access the full set of tuning features for any databases on which the full set of features for IBM InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner, Version 4.1.1 is activated.
A license activation kit for InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner, Version 4.1.1
This kit allows you to activate the full set of features for tuning query workloads and single SQL statements. This activation is required once only. One person installs the license activation kit together with the Data Studio client, Version 4.1.1. Then, that person can activate the full set of tuning features by connecting to a database or subsystem through the Data Source Explorer, right-clicking that database or subsystem, and selecting Analyze and Tune > Activate Full Set of Tuning Features. After the features are activated, they are available to anyone else who connects to that database or subsystem through the Data Studio client, Version 4.1.1.

Your product DVD or the compressed file that you downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage® or IBM Shopz contains the kit that corresponds to the product that you purchased:

Installing InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner by using the IBM Installation Manager wizard

Use this method of installation when you want to install the product on a single workstation.

Before you begin

Ensure that your workstation meets the system requirements.

Procedure

To install InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner, Version 4.1.1 by using the IBM Installation Manager wizard:

  1. If IBM Installation Manager is already installed on the workstation, ensure that it checks automatically for updates to itself.
    1. Start IBM Installation Manager.
    2. Select File > Preferences.
    3. In the Preferences window, select Updates.
    4. On the Updates page, select the option Search for Installation Manager updates. Then, click OK.
    5. Close IBM Installation Manager.
  2. On the product DVD or in the extracted content of the .zip file that you downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage, double-click the appropriate file for your operating system:
  3. In the launchpad, select Install Product.
  4. Specify whether to run an administrative installation or a non-administrative installation.
  5. On the Select Packages page of the wizard, select the package or packages that you want to install.
  6. On the Install Packages page of the wizard, choose one of the following actions:
  7. Finish the remaining steps in the wizard.

What to do next
