In order to run the IMS™ inbound application sample, follow the instructions below.
Before you begin
- Make sure you have a clean workspace.
- You need to set up a IMS transaction
gateway on a machine to access the server. You also need to perform
some setup work on the IMS server,
where you want the IMS SYCALOUT.cpy
program to execute. These steps are not covered; contact your IMS server administrator for setup
and connection information to your IMS server.
About this task
You need to configure the server and associate the sample
with it using the following steps:
Procedure
- Click the Servers view.
Note: If you do not see the Servers view, you must open the Servers
view, select .
- In the Servers view, right click WebSphere® Application Server, and select Start.
- Once the server is started, right click WebSphere Application Server, and select . The administrative console appears
in the Editor area of your workspace.
- Select .
- On the Resource Adapters page, click Install
RAR.
- On the Resource Adapters page, in the path field, click Browse to locate the RAR file.
This file is located in your RAD install directory, under <RAD install>/IBM/SDP/ResourceAdapters/ims<version>. Select imsico<version>.rar, and click Open.
- On the Install RAR page, click Next.
- On the Resource Adapters page, provide a name for this
resource adapter (IMS TM Resource
Adapter) and click OK.
- On the Resource Adapters page, click Save.
- On the Resource Adapters page, click your new resource
adapter (IMS TM Resource Adapter).
On the IMS TM Resource Adapter
page, in the Additional Properties field, click J2C activation specifications.
- On the J2C activation specifications page, click New.
- In the Name field, type a name for the activation specifications,
for example, IMSInbound J2C activation specification

- In the JNDI name field, type a JNDI name, for example, IMSInbound, and click Apply

- On the Resource Adapters page, click Save.
- On the J2C activation specifications page, click your activation
specification resource (IMSInbound).
- On the J2C activation specifications page, in the Additional properties field, click J2C activation
specification custom properties. Set the custom properties
(You can obtain these values from your IMS administrator):
- Click dataStoreName, and provide
a value for the IMS datastore
name. Click Apply, and on the Resource Adapters
page, click Save.
- Click hostName, and provide a
value for the host name. Click Apply, and on
the Resource Adapters page, click Save.
- Click portNumber, and provide
a value for the port number. Click Apply, and
on the Resource Adapters page, click Save.
- Click queueNames, and provide
a value for the queueNames. Click Apply, and
on the Resource Adapters page, click Save.
- In the Servers view, right click WebSphere Application Server, and select Add and remove projects. Select IMSInboundEar, and click Add. Click Finish. Your application is now published to the server.

Once the event is triggered from the IMS server, the following output displays on
the console:
