Specifying connection properties for IMS

After you have selected the IMS™ resource adapter in the J2C bean wizard, you must provide the connection properties.

Before you begin

Before you can create your J2C application, you need to set up an IMS connect on a machine to access the server. You also need to perform some setup work on the IMS Server machine, where you want the IMS program to execute. Contact your IMS Server administrator for setup and for connection information to your IMS server.

About this task

Connections from the J2C bean to the EIS can be managed or non-managed. Managed connections are obtained through JNDI and are managed by the application server. Non-managed connections are obtained directly through the resource adapter for two-tiered applications. If both connection types are selected, a managed connection is attempted first, followed by a non-managed connection.

Procedure

  1. managed connection On the Connection Properties page, provide the JNDI name of the connection factory. You need to specify this entry if you intend to use JNDI to make your connection. You can browse for an existing JNDI connection on a server by clicking Browse or choose to create a JNDI alias for a managed connection factory by clicking New.
  2. Non-managed connection On the Connection Properties page, enter all the required connection information. Required fields are indicated by an asterisk (*).
    1. Connection class name*: (Required)
    2. TCP/IP: For the TCP/IP option, these fields are required:
      1. Host Name* (Required): TCP/IP host name of the IMS Connect server.
      2. Port Number* (Required): Port number that the server uses.
    3. Local*: For the Local option, this field is required.
      1. IMSConnect Name* (Required): IMSConnect name
    4. Data store Name* (Required): Server address of the IMS server (Connection URL).

To set the advanced IMS properties, click Show Advanced.
