Global transaction settings are WebSphere® Application Server extensions
to the Enterprise JavaBeans specification.
If an application uses two or more resources, then an external transaction
manager is needed to coordinate the updates to both resource managers
in a global transaction. You can use the deployment descriptor editor
to define global transaction settings.

Procedure
- Switch to the Java™ EE
perspective.
- In the Enterprise Explorer view, select the desired EJB
module.
- Right click the deployment descriptor, and select .
- On the Beans page of the editor,
select a bean and find the Global Transaction section under the WebSphere Extensions section.
- In the Component Transaction Timeout integer field,
type an integer that indicates the Timeout period. This
value specifies the transaction timeout, in seconds, for any new global
transaction started by the container on behalf of the enterprise bean.
- Click the Use Web Services Atomic Transaction check
box to implement the set of Web services that enable Web service applications
to participate in global transactions distributed across the heterogeneous
Web service environment.
Results
After you define the global transaction settings, you can
click
Remove to remove the global transaction
settings.
