If you prefer not to use the web service wizard, you can
use command line tools to create web services using the IBM® WebSphere® JAX-RPC
runtime environment. Once you have created your web service, you can
then deploy it to a server, test it, and publish it as a business
entity or business service.
About this task
Note: The command line tools are deprecated. Although they
can be used to generate web services and clients on older versions
of WebSphere Application
Server, it is strongly suggested that you use the Ant tasks instead.
The Ant tasks can be run inside the workbench or on the command line,
and cover all scenarios in which the command line tools could be used.
For
more information about creating JAX-RPC web services with Ant tasks,
refer to: Using Ant tasks to create IBM WebSphere JAX-RPC runtime environment web services and clients
The following
are supported for command line based web services development:
- WebSphere Application
Server v6.1
- J2EE 1.3 and J2EE 1.4
Restriction: - When using the command line tools, ensure that the project name
that you enter is valid and can be used as a file name on your operating
system. For example, if you were to name your project "." the command
line tools would fail because they would be unable to create a directory
in your file system with this as its name. Alphanumeric project names
are recommended.
- The command line tools and the batch scripts explicitly point
to the JRE inside the stub runtime. Do not modify these batch scripts
to point to a JRE other than the one installed with the product. If
you need to use an alternate JRE contact IBM support
for assistance.
To create web services with the command line, you can
use the following methods:
