Creating J2C beans for inbound applications

You can use the J2C bean wizard to create a J2C bean for inbound applications in your existing or new project.

Before you begin

Important: Do not install multiple resource adapters as standalone on the same runtime server, especially if they are for the same EIS type (for example, CICS® ECI 8.0.0.0 and CICS ECI 8.0.0.1). All standalone resource adapters share the same class loader, and therefore cannot both be installed.

Procedure

  1. Select File > New > Other > J2C, and click Next
  2. In the Resource Adapters Selection page, select the type of resource adapter you want to use.

Available resource adapters that support inbound processing:

    • PeopleSoft: For information about and configuration instructions on using the WebSphere® Application server for PeopleSoft, see Adapter for PeopleSoft
    • SAP: For information about and configuration instructions on the WebSphere Application server for SAP, see Adapter for SAP
    • Siebel: For information about and configuration instructions on the WebSphere Application server for Siebel, seeAdapter for Siebel
    • JD Edwards: For information about and configuration instructions on the WebSphere Application server for JD Edwards, seeAdapter for JDEdwards
    • Oracle: For information about and configuration instructions on the WebSphere Application server for Oracle, see Adapter for Oracle

  3. Once you have selected the appropriate resource adapter, click Next.
  4. On the Connector Import page, ensure that the values are correct and click Next.

  8. On the Configure Composite Properties page, select the actions you want to perform on the objects and click Next. Use Add and Remove to add and remove functions from the list.

  9. On the J2C Bean Creation and Deployment Configuration page, you can create an EJB local interface, helper class, session bean, and message-driven bean to contain your inbound processes. An EJB, a Session bean and a Message-driven bean are all created automatically. In an inbound model, MDBs are designed to receive external EIS messages. The ActivationSpec class represents the configuration required by the resource adapter to establish the connection between the EIS and an MDB. Resource adapters use ActivationSpec of the deployed MDB to create and manage a relationship between the EIS and the MDB using the resource adapter. All resource adapters must implement javax.resource.spi.ResourceAdapter, which has five methods. The application server accesses these methods to manage the lifecycle of the resource adapter and provide notifications when a message endpoint is deployed or undeployed. To receive a specific EIS message, the recipient (MDB) should show interest in consuming that message by implementing a message listener. Once you have created these objects, click Finish.
