Installing Rational Change for Eclipse
Interface and Rational Change for Subversion Interface 1.1.0
Step 1:
Prerequisites for this interface to work correctly
1.
Subversion repository is running and the user of this integration
has Subversion repository access.
2.
WebSVN is working as your Subversion client and you
are able to browse Subversion repository by using WebSVN.
Read http://svnbook.red-bean.com
if you need
more help on setting up a subversion repository. (Chapter 6 in this book has some important
configuration information on how to setup an Apache web server so that
Subversion repositories become available to clients.) The install.txt file
included with the WebSVN package contains information
on Configuration options.
3.
Multiviews must be enabled on Apache.
4.
Tomcat 6.0.xx or higher is running on a machine where you want to
install vcindexer
component of this integration.
5.
IBM Rational Change 5.1 or higher is running on a separate
machine.
Step 3:
Install IBM Rational Change for Eclipse Interface using Local Installation
1.
Download
the interface from IBM Rational support web site.
2.
Unzip
it to a temporary location and locate the zip file change_mylyn11.zip.
3.
Unzip
change_mylyn11.zip to another
location to be used as local update site.
4.
Start
Eclipse
5.
Select
Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install…
6.
Choose
Search for new features to install and click Next.
7. Click New Local Site and then browse to the directory
where you unzipped the file change_mylyn11.zip.
8.
Click
OK and then click Finish.
9. Find IBM Rational Change for Eclipse
Interface 1.1 in the list of available features, and then click the
checkbox next to it.
10. Click Next.
11. Accept the license agreement, and
then click Next.
12. Click Finish.
13. Click Install All.
14. When prompted to restart
Eclipse, click Yes.
Step 4:
Install IBM Rational Change Life Cycle Process
1.
Download
the interface and unzip it to a temporary location.
2.
Find
the Rational Change CR process files in <Unzipped Directory>\ change_process_files
3.
Refer
to Rational Change documentation on how to install a CR process and create a
package in Rational Change Server.
4.
Refer
to Iinterface’s online help for configuring vcindexer attributes in Change Process.
Step 5:
Install Subversion Commit Indexing Service
A. Install vcindexer
web archive.
1.
Copy
the vcindexer.war file to your Tomcat webapps directory.
Example <your_tomcat_home>\webapps
2.
Create
a configuration xml file
Example:C:\temp\vcindex.xml
<svnindex>
<svnrepository
key= "subversion" user="testerbob"
password="deathtrap" url="file:///C:/SVN_REPO/IntDemo"
issuetoken="CR" path="/Projects/trunk/eclipse_int_guide"/>
<websvn
url=http://localhost/websvn/
repositoryName="IntDemo"/>
<database
driver="org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver"
url="jdbc:derby:/tmp/issueDB"
user="user1" password="user1"/>
</svnindex>
Note: In vcindex.xml
file, svnrepository is your subversion repository;
URL is the physical location of your repository; issuetoken
is “CR” is Change Request Prefix if your Rational Change database (non
DCM). The issuetoken value for the
DCM enabled database is the DCM ID of the data base (example:N#).
The issuetoken is also configured as ListBox Manager attribute value in
Change.
3.
Point
your configuration file using the following method.
Create an
environment variable called VC_INDEXER_CONFIG <full path of vcindex.xml>. Example: VC_INDEXER_CONFIG
C:\temp\vcindex.xml
4.
Start
Tomcat from windows services control panel OR from command-line. Example: C:\<tomcat install dir>bin\starup.bat. The vcindexer
service should start without any errors.
Step 6:
