A template is a parameterized model element that serves as a descriptor of a type of model element. Because templates model types of model elements - in contrast to other model elements, which model parts of a system - they are not directly usable in models. Instead, you add binding relationships between templates and model elements to generate new model elements that are based on the template and can be used to model the system.
