Included IBM Rational Products

The following products are included in IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions; View the “ReadMe” file for that product, with further information about system requirements, installation procedures, compatibility with other products, and how to resolve any issues.

The products installed by the IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client Installer form an integrated set; that is, the IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client installer also automatically installs the appropriate integrations between the products you choose to install, or have previously installed. For example, if you install, or have previously installed, IBM Rational DOORS 9.2 and IBM Rational Change 5.2, then the integration between those products i.e. IBM Rational Change-DOORS integration 5.7 is installed automatically.

The following integrations are included in IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions. View the “ReadMe” file for that integration, with further information about system requirements, installation procedures, compatibility with other products, and how to resolve any issues.

Please note that older versions of the following products should be removed via the Windows “Add/Remove Programs” Control Panel application prior to running the IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client Installer

The following prerequsites need to be installed before installation of IBM Rational System Architect through the IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client Installer. If these prerequisites are not present the System Architect installation will fail.

  2. Microsoft Visual J# Version 2.0 Redistributable Package - click here to download this package.
  3. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Primary Interoperability Assemblies - This package is available as part of Visual Studio 2005.

The above prerequite installers are also available on the "IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions for Enterprise Lifecycle Management" Windows DVD. Browse to the SystemArchitect\Prerequsite folder of the DVD to view the files.

The IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client installer will show you a list of available products; by default, all products are selected. Deselect the ones you do not wish to install. If a product with the same version has previously been installed, you will not be able to unselect it; however, it will not be re-installed.

You will be asked to supply a destination directory; each product is installed into an appropriate subdirectory of the destination you choose, the default destination directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational.

Download options (web installation only):

You may provide license information, and this will be used for IBM Rational DOORS,IBM Rational Logiscope, IBM Rational Publishing Engine, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational System Architect and IBM Rational Tau. If you choose not to provide license information during installation, you must set it up later before any of the products may be used. IBM Rational Synergy and IBM Rational Focal Point products require that you provide licensing information on the server, during server installation or later.

You may install any individual Windows client or integration by browsing the DVD (or DVD image) for the appropriate product client installer. Note that in some cases you must also install a corresponding server product. However, IBM Rational recommends that you use the IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client installer to automate the installation of the integrated clients.

2. Next, IBM Rational Publishing Engine.

Note: If you had installed Tau prior to installation of DOORS and Synergy then you may have to re-run Tau installer to install tau-doors and tau-synergy integration.

Installing on Citrix

IBM Rational Rhapsody uses .ini files which require Citrix to be changed to install mode before installing Rhapsody. To do this run the command change user /install in a DOS command prompt window before running the IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client installer. To change Citrix back to execute mode after the installation is complete, run the command change user /execute in a DOS command prompt window. Install mode forces the installation to create the Rhapsody.ini file in the system Windows directory and ensures that all users get the Rhapsody.ini file copied to their own personal Windows directory.

Obtaining a license for IBM Rational Lifecycle Solutions Client Installer

Once you have the license file, you must provide its client file location or server machine and port number to the installer or license setup utilities provided by each product.
